• Descriptive Text adalah bentuk teks yang berisi

gambaran tentang suatu objek. Tujuan dari
Descriptive Text adalah mendeskripsikan atau
menggambarkan suatu objek khusus.

Struktur Descriptive text

• Identification
Bagian ini, terletak pada paragraf pertama, tujuannya adalah untuk mengidentifikasi suatu
objek yang ingin dideskripsikan. Indentification berfungsi untuk memperkenalkan kepada pembaca
tentang objek yang akan kita jelaskan, sebelum kita memberitahu tentang lebih rinci mengenai
objek tersebut pada paragraf selanjutnya.

• Description
Bagian ini, terletak pada paragraf kedua dan seterusnya, berisi tentang sifat-sifat yang melekat
pada sesuatu yang sudah kamu kenalkan pada pembaca pada paragraf pertama.

• Noun: Menggunakan kata benda yang spesifik, misalnya my best friend, my dog, Borobudur
Temple, dan lain – lain. Selain itu, terkadang juga menggunakan kata benda yang mendapat
pemberian kata sifat, misalnya an intelligent student dan a big garden.

• Simple present tense: Menggunakan kata kerja bentuk pertama (verb1) dan juga kata kerja yang
dapat menggambarkan keadaan objek atau mengisyaratkan kepemilikan, misalnya my house has
2 living rooms, Sinta is beautiful, dan lain – lain.

• Adjective: Menggunakan kata sifat untuk menjelaskan objek.  

• Figurative language: Menggunakan bahasa figuratif seperti simile atau metafora sebagai cara
untuk memberikan ilustrasi perbandingan, misalnya: My throat is as dry as a dessert

My Best Friend, Ernesto
I have a best friend. His name is Ernesto and he is my classmate. We go to Identification
school together.
Ernesto comes from an educated family. His father is a school principal and his
mother is also a teacher.
He is punctual, well-educated, and has good manners. He is really hard
working. He always does his homework. He is also well-dressed and well-
behaved. All teachers have a high opinion of him. Ernesto has a well-built
body. He is gentle but fearless. Moreover, Ernesto takes part in all sports, Description
scout, trekking and mountaineering activities. He has a good heart and he is
truthful.
He also plays the guitar, and he makes his parents very proud of him. He
secures good marks and is usually top of his class in examinations. He inspires
me to work harder. He keeps me away from bad company. I am happy to have
such a friend.
