Masalah Utama:
1. Masalah stabilitas lereng karena keterbatasan tinggi timbunan • Tegangan negative dari sistim vakum akan menghasilkan tegangan air pori negatif,
2. Timbunan harus dilakukan secara bertahap → waktu konsolidasi >12 bulan sehingga menaikkan tegangan efektif tanah yang setara dengan timbunan setinggi 5-6m
3. Perlu material timbunan yang banyak dan mempercepat proses konsolidasi,
• Jumlah material timbunan saat preloading menjadi jauh berkurang,
• Dengan berkurangnya jumlah timbunan maka mempercepat waktu konstruksi,
• Karena tegangan vakum adalah isotropic sehingga tidak ada masalah stabilitas lereng
saat preloading.
