As one of the four language skills; speaking, is the most frequently used in daily activities.

Speaking is
used to deliver ideas, opinions, arguments or thoughts to other people orally. As oral communication,
speaking skill shows how well a speaker in arranging word by word become utterances to express his or
her thought and listeners can understand it. Speaking is one of the skills that the students have to
master, but the fact that are many students are not interested in learning English, one of the reasons is
it is difficult to understand. According to Richard (1990) state, there are some reasons causing English
learner poor in speaking skill. They are curriculum does not emphasize on speaking skill, teachers have
limited English proficiency, class conditions do not favor oral activities, the English learners have limited
opportunities to practice their skill outside, and examination system does not emphasize on oral skill.

. Berbicara merupakan salah satu keterampilan bahasa dasar yang harus dikuasai oleh pembelajar
bahasa Inggris karena digunakan untuk berkomunikasi. Sangatlah penting untuk dapat berbahasa Inggris
mengingat bahasa ini adalah bahasa yang paling umum diterima di dunia sehingga akan sangat
bermanfaat bagi yang memahaminya tidak hanya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan
mereka tetapi juga lebih mudah bagi mereka untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan. Selain itu, mereka tidak
akan kesulitan untuk berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi dengan orang-orang di seluruh dunia ketika
mereka bepergian atau melanjutkan studi di negara lain. Namun di era sekarang ini, masih banyak orang
yang tidak bisa berbahasa Inggris karena belajar bahasa Inggris dianggap sulit untuk dipelajari. Ada
banyak alasan mengapa berbicara bahasa Inggris dianggap sulit bagi sebagian orang, salah satunya
adalah karena malu karena diolok-olok oleh teman-temannya. Ini mungkin salah satu alasan kebanyakan
orang merasa sulit untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris. Ungkapan seperti “Norak, bisa bahasa Inggris saja
sudah ngawur” inilah yang membuat seseorang yang sudah ingin belajar berbicara bahasa Inggris
menjadi down dan takut diejek oleh teman-temannya. Ejekan dan sindiran tersebut membuat rasa
percaya diri mereka menurun dan mereka enggan untuk melanjutkan belajar berbicara bahasa Inggris.

Berbicara adalah kemampuan untuk berbagi pikiran, ide, dan niat kepada orang lain dengan
menggunakan bahasa dalam bentuk lisan. Menurut Shiamaa (2006), berbicara merupakan proses
interaktif yang melibatkan produksi dan pemrosesan atau penerimaan informasi untuk melayani
interaksional dan transaksional. Sebagai salah satu dari empat keterampilan berbahasa; berbicara,
adalah yang paling sering digunakan dalam kegiatan sehari-hari. Berbicara digunakan untuk
menyampaikan ide, pendapat, argumentasi atau pemikiran kepada orang lain secara lisan. Berbicara
merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa, namun faktanya masih banyak siswa
yang tidak tertarik untuk belajar bahasa Inggris, salah satu penyebabnya adalah sulit untuk dipahami.
Menurut Richard (1990) menyatakan, ada beberapa alasan yang menyebabkan pembelajar bahasa
Inggris miskin dalam keterampilan berbicara. Diantaranya kurikulum tidak menekankan pada
keterampilan berbicara, guru memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang terbatas, kondisi kelas tidak
mendukung kegiatan lisan, pembelajar bahasa Inggris memiliki kesempatan terbatas untuk melatih
keterampilan mereka di luar, dan sistem ujian tidak menekankan pada keterampilan lisan.

intervals. Listeners can listen, subscribe, and have the latest episodes of their favorite podcasts program
on the computer, mobile phone or other software programs such as Spotify, iTunes, YouTube etc. (Ramli
2018:3) explains that podcast gives students flexibility when and where to learn at their desired learning
pace and path. Furthermore, he said podcasts can be instantly downloaded, copied, shared, and even
edited, granting learners more control on their competence and possession of their learning
