(LIBS) Sebagai Metode Baru Identifikasi Elemen Dalam Bahan Bakar Gasohol.

ABSTRACT
In this research, Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) was
apllied for elemental analysis of gasohol fuel samples. LIBS is based on the analysis of spectral emission from laser induce plasma from the sample surface. LIBS plus adsorbent zeolite enrichment is a potential approach to high sensitivity detection of elemental in gasohol fuel. LIBS method using the optimum intensity laser of 21,83 x 1010 W/cm2 and optimum adsorption time of 20 minutes. The spectra due to trace element in gasohol fuel such as Ca, Na, K, Li, Sr, Al, Mg , Cd, Al, Fe, Mn, Ti, Sc, Dy, and Cr were recorded using this method. The results this method were compare with conventional method like X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The comparative of LIBS and XRF is equal qualitatively but the both has a significant difference quantitatively. This is due to the working principle of the both tools is different. The LIBS is a microanalysis techniques while the XRF is macroanalysis techniques so it to cause differences in the quantitative analysis. In addition to elemental analysis, LIBS method is also able to provide information about the degree of fuel thermal stability. This can be demonstrated through the analysis of the plasma temperature. LIBS method can be used as an alternative method for quality control of fuel.
