Refer to adalah salah satu bentuk phrasal verb (frase kata kerja) yang dalam bahasa Indonesia bisa

diartikan 'merujuk kepada'. Refer to dapat berguna sebagai kata lain untuk merujuk pada seseorang
atau benda hidup (refer to somebody or living things) atau kata lain yang merujuk pada sesuatu hal
(refer to something) yang telah disebut sebelumnya. Serta,juga dapat digunakan untuk melihat
sebuah refrensi.  Refer to ini merupakan satu kesatuan frase jadi 'Refer' HARUS diikuti 'to', tidak
boleh di ganti dengan preposition lain semisal with, of dan lain sebagainya. Sedangkan untuk bentuk
verb 'refer' bisa berubah sesuai dengan Tensesnya. (refers to, referred to, referring to).

Contoh:

a. The policeman is explaining the law to the young girl. He has explained it to her for two hours.

=> He refers to the policeman

=> It refers to the law

=> Her refers to the young girl

b. basketball coach teaches how to play zone defense to the players. He taught it to them with the
in-game simulation system.

=> He refer to the coach

=> It refer to the playing zone defense

=> them refer to players

c. He let me in without referring to his guest book. 

=> Refer to di sini merujuk kepada buku yang terdapat informasi. Bentuk referring disini berupa
gerund (kata benda yang terbentuk dari kata kerja yang ditambahkan - ing) karena muncul setelah
preposition 'without'
