PROCEDURE TEXT

A. KOMPETENSI DASAR
3.4 Membandingkan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks prosedur
lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait resep makanan/minuman dan
manual, pendek dan sederhana sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya

kebahasaan teks prosedur lisan dan tulis sangat pendek dan sederhana dalam bentuk resep
makanan/minuman dan manual

B. TUJUAN PEMBELAJARAN
Setelah mempelajari materi ini, Kalian diharapkan dapat:
1. Mengucapkan ulang setiap kata dari beberapa teks resep makanan/minuman dan manual
dengan ucapan dan tekanan kata yang benar;
2. Menganalisisi struktur nomina yang digunakan untuk menyebutkan benda-benda;
3. Menganalisis struktur kalimat yang menyebutkan langkah kerja;
4. Membacakan dengan suara lantang, dengan ucapan dan tekanan kata yang benar terkait resep
makanan/minuman dan manual;
5. Menyalin resep makanan/minuman dari buku resep dengan ditulis tangan dan kemudian
ditempel di dinding kamar;
6. Menangkap makna secara kontekstual terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur
kebahasaan teks prosedur lisan dan tulis sangat pendek dan sederhana dalam bentuk resep
makanan/minuman dan manual.

C. PETUNJUK PEMBELAJARAN
Anak-anak, pokok bahasan kita kali ini tentang Teks Prosedur (Procedure Text). Untuk
mencapai tujuan pembelajaran, silahkan kalian baca uraian materi yang tersedia dan pahamilah
pembahasannya melalui contoh-contoh yang ada. Jika ada yang tidak kalian pahami, silahkan tanya
pada saat KBM berlangsung.
Kemudian lakukanlah pendalaman materi dengan memperhatikan dan mengerjakan latihan-
latihan yang disediakan selama KBM berlangsung. Kerjakan soal tes pengetahuan dan tugas
kelompok untuk mendapatkan nilai pengetahuan dan keterampilan.

Definition of Procedure Text (Definisi Teks Prosedur)
Ada beberapa definisi atau pengertian Procedure Text, diantaranya:
- Procedure text is the text that tells us how something is done through steps or action.

 (Teks Prosedur adalah teks yang memberitahu kita bagaimana sesuatu dikerjakan melalui
langkah-langkah atau tindakan.)
- Procedure text is a text that gives some clues of how to do something through a series of
action.
(Teks Prosedur ialah teks yang memberi petunjuk tentang cara melakukan sesuatu melalui
rangkaian tindakan.)
- A procedure text is used to tell someone how to do or make something.
(Teks Prosedur digunakan untuk memberitahu orang tentang cara melakuakan atau
membuat sesuatu.)
Social Function of Procedure Text (Fungsi Sosial Teks Prosedur)
Social function of procedure text is to tell or instruct the readers or hearers about how
to do or make something through a series of action.
(Fungsi sosial dari Teks Prosedur ialah untuk memberi tahu atau memberi petunjuk kepada
pembaca atau pendengar tentang cara melakukan atau membuat sesuatu melalui serangkaian
langkah-langkah yang berurutan.)
Characteristics of Procedure Text (Ciri-ciri Teks Prosedur)
Berikut ini beberapa ciri Teks Prosedur:
▪ Menggunakan pola kalimat perintah (Imperative/Command) dan larangan (Prohibition).

▪ Menggunakan Noun Phrase (Kelompok/Frase Kata Benda), berikut penjelasan tentang

Noun Phrase (NP):
Noun Phrase (Frasa Kata Benda) adalah kata benda yang mendapat rangkaian kata-kata
penjelas. Ada 2 macam Noun phrase, yakni Left-handed dan right-handed.
a. Left-handed: penjelas-penjelas kata benda berada mengawali atau sebelum kata
benda bersangkutan. Ada 5 (lima) penjelas (modifier) yang berada mengawali kata
benda, yaitu:
- Article (artikel) = a, an, the + Noun
e.g. a camera (sebuah kamera), an egg (sebutir telur), the pan (panci tersebut)
- Demonstrative (kata penunjuk) = this, these, that, those + Noun
e.g. this chili (cabe in), these plates (piring-piring ini),
that knife (pisau itu), those glasses (gelas-gelas itu)

 - Possessive (kata kepunyaan) = my, your, our, their, her, his, its + Noun
e.g. my omelet (telur dadarku), his fried chicken (ayam gorengnya)
- Quantitative (jumlah/angka) = each, every, some, any, all, few, little, much, many,
several, three, 1 ½ + Noun
e.g. 1liter rice (1liter beras), little sugar (sedikit gula), four apples (4 buah apel)
- Adjective (kata sifat) = ripe, hot, sour, salty + Noun
e.g. ripe banana (pisang yang matang), good computer (Komputer yang bagus)
b. Right-handed: penjelas-penjelas kata benda berada setelah kata benda bersangkutan.
Modifier (penjelas) yang berada setelah kata benda ada 5, yaitu:
- Noun + Prepositional Phrase (PP): rangkaian kata depan dengan kata lain

- Noun + Participle (active participle V-ing = me/yang me dan passive participle = V3

- Noun + Adjective (kata sifat)
e.g. the food available (makanan yang tersedia)
- Noun + Adverb (kata keterangan)
e.g. shops nearby (warung-warung di tempat sekitar)

e.g. God the Almighty (Tuhan yang Maha Kuasa)
▪ Menggunakan Simple Present Tense, ada 2 bentuk kalimat Simple Present Tense:
a. Verbal sentence, kalimat yang dibentuk menggunakan Kata kerja (verb)

e.g. The fried rice is ready. (Nasi goreng sudah siap)

The chilis are hot. (Cabe-cabe itu pedas.)
A knife is on the table. (Sebuah pisau diatas meja.)
That camera is there. (Kamera itu ada disana.)
▪ Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya crack, chop, cut, heat, mix, dan seterusnya;
▪ Menggunakan sequence adverbs (keterangan urutan) seperti first, second, next, then,
finally, while;

▪ Menggunakan huruf atau angka untuk menunjukan urutan langkah-langkah, contoh a, b, c
atau 1, 2, 3 dan seterusnya;
▪ Menggunakan adverbials (kata keterangan) untuk menyatakan rinci waktu dan tempat
misalnya "Cook the mixture for one hour", "Boil the water for 15 minutes", "Crack the egg
into the bowl", dan lain sebagainya.
Generic Structure (Struktur Umum)
a. Title / goal (Judul/Tujuan)
It states the goal to be achieved. (menyatakan tujuan yang akan dicapai)
e.g. How to make a cup of coffee, how to operate a computer, etc.
b. List of material/ingredient
It lists the material needed. It often gives detail on the size, color, numbers, shapes,
quantity, etc. (daftar bahan yang dibutuhkan. Sering memberi rincian ukuran, warna,
angka, bentuk, jumlah dll)
c. Steps / Methods / Procedures
It describes steps in a logical order to achieve the goal. The steps are often marked with
numbers (1, 2, 3 …), letter (a, b, c …), or bullet marks (*, -,). Sometimes the steps include
caution (s) or warning (s) or warning. There can also be drawings or pictures to make the
steps clearer.

langkah tersebut sering ditandai dengan angka 1, 2 ,3 …, huruf a, b, c … tanda bulet *, -.
Terkadang juga diberi tanda peringatan. Ada juga lukisan atau gambar untuk membuat
langkah-langkah semakin jelas.
Models of Procedure Text (Model-model Teks Prosedur)
Ada empat (4) macam/model teks prosedur, yaitu Food/Drink Recipe, Manual Instruction,
Scientific Experiment and Procedural Recount. Tapi di dalam silabus, kalian hanya diminta
untuk mempelajari dua (2) model teks prosedur, yakni Resep Makanan/Minuman dan Manual.
Oleh karenanya, kita hanya akan berfokus pada dua model teks prosedur tersebut.
a. Food and Drink Recipe (Resep Makanan dan Minuman)
Resep makanan/minuman memberi informasi tentang bagaimana cara membuat sesuatu.
Biasanya informasi tersebut diberikan dalam 4 dasar struktur:
- title/goal (judul/tujuan),
- material/ingredient (bahan-bahan),
- methods/step (langkah-langkah),
- result/conclusion (hasil/kesimpulan)

 Berikut ini contoh resep makanan/minuman:
Food Recipe (Resep Makanan)
How to Make Fried Banana
Ingredients:
• 4 ripe plantain
• 1 tsp. sugar
• 1 egg
• 6 tbs. flour
• a pinch of salt
• water
• vegetable oil for deep frying

Note:
- tsp : tea spoon (sendok teh)
- tbs : table spoon (sendok makan)

Steps/ Instruction:
1. Place flour in a deep mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle of the flour, and add egg,
sugar and salt. Add water little by little. Whisk vigorously until batter is evenly smooth
for coating and not too thin. If it is too thin, add more flour.
2. Peel plantain or banana and cut in half lengthwise and then cut again with 4-inch
width. Dip into batter to coat generously.
3. Heat oil in a wok or deep fryer until moderately hot. Place coated plantain or banana
in the wok or deep fryer and fry slowly until golden brown and crispy. This usually take
approximately 10-15 minutes. Remove bananas from oil, drain on paper napkins and
dry well.
4. Serve while still warm

Drink Recipe (Resep Minuman)

How to Make Lemon Tea
Ingredients:
• 1 bag of Teabag
• 2 pieces of Lemon Orange
• 2 tsp of sugar
• 6 Ice Cubes
• 50 ml of hot water
• 150 ml of cold water

Steps:
1. Brew Tea bag in 50 ml of hot water.
2. Add sugar, and then stir until evenly distributed.
3. Squeeze the lemon. Then, pour lemon juice into the tea.
4. Add ice cubes and add 150 ml of cold water.
5. Stir until the lemon juice mixes with the tea.
6. Add lemon slices as decoration.
7. Ice Lemon Tea is ready to serve.

b. Manual Instruction (Petunjuk Manual)

Petunjuk Manual memberi informasi tentang aturan permainan dan ia juga menunjukkan
cara menggunakan sesuatu yang dapat ditemukan pada kemasan makanan, barang
elektronik dan segala yang dijual. Struktur umum tek prosedur manual seperti berikut ini:
- Title/goal
- Pernyataan pembuka
