 What is explanation text?
 A kind of text which tells or explains processes
relating to forming of natural or social
phenomena or how something works
Sejenis teks yang menceritakan atau menjelaskan
proses yang berkaitan dengan pembentukan
fenomena natural atau sosial atau bagaimana
sesuatu bekerja.
 Social function
 Combine how and why of the forming of the phenomena.
Menggabungkan bagaimana dan mengapa fenomena dapat terjadi
 To explain why things are as they are and how they are formed
or mode
Untuk menjelaskan mengapa segala sesuatu bagiamana terbentuk
 To explain the processes involved in the evolution of natural
and social phenomena or how something works
Untuk menjelaskan proses yang terlibat dalam fenomena alam dan
atau sosial bagaimana sesuatu bekerja.
 To explain how something works or the process involved in
actions, event, or bevarior.
Untuk menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau terlibat dalam
suatu tindakan,peristiwa dan perilaku.
 General structure
 Explanation text are factual genres. As a genre,
explanations detail and logically decribe the stages in a
natural, social, or thecnological phenomena of our
world.
Struktur umum teks ini adalah genre faktual. Sebagai
genre, penjelasan detail dan secara logis menggambarkan
tahapan dalam fenomena alam,sosial,atau teknologi dunia
kita.

Penjelasan berurutan tentang tahap peristiwa.
 Language features
 Focus on generic, non human participants, or things.
 Use of abstract nouns, for example heat, earthquake,
tsunami
 Use of simple present tene
 Use of temporal and causal conjunctions
 Use of passive voice
 Use of action verbs to explain cause
 Use of noun phrases
 Use of complex sentences
 Use of technical terms or words chains about a subject
