procedure)
 Procedure Text
Procedure text adalah sebuah jenis teks dalam Bahasa Inggris yang berisi tujuan dan langkah-langkah untuk
membuat atau melakukan sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan tujuan tersebut.

Fungsi dari teks ini adalah untuk menunjukkan bagaimana cara melakukan sesuatu melalui langkah-langkah
yang berurutan sehingga pembaca atau pendengar bisa mencapai tujuannya.

Ciri-Ciri Procedure Text :

1. Menggunakan simple present tense.

2. Menggunakan imperative sentence, kalimat yang biasannya digunakan untuk memberikan perintah.
Contoh : boil the water, cut into a slice, stir with teaspoon, dan sebagainya.
3. Menggunakan connective of sequences, misalnya : then, while, next, finally dan sebagainya.
4. Menggunakan ordinal numbers, misalnya : first, second, third, dan sebagainya.
5. Menggunakan action verb, contoh : pour, cut, mix dan sebagainya.
6. Menggunakan adverb of manner, misal : slowly, carefully dan sebagainya.
 Generic Structures
Secara umum, sebuah teks procedure mempunyai beberapa rangkaian utama diantaranya :

1. Aim/Goal (tujuan) :

Terletak pada judul teks dan digunakan untuk menunjukkan tujuan dari teks tersebut.

Contoh : How to Make a Glass of Milk

2. Ingredients/Materials/Tools (Bahan-bahan atau Alat-alat)

Berisi bahan atau alat yang diperlukan dalam langkah-langkah melakukan prosesnya.

Contoh: The materials to Make a Glass of Milk, they are : warm water, milk powder, sugar, teaspoon, and
glass.

3. Steps/methods

Berisi cara, metode, atau langkah yang dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan pada teks tersebut.

Contoh: First, pour some warm water into the glass.
