Oracle Enterprise Edition VS Oracle Standard Edition

- Oracle Enterprise Edition: Enterprise Edition adalah versi full dari Oracle Database Server, digunakan oleh perusahaan perusahaanperusahaan besar dengan kemampuan lebih dari 4 processor. Pilihan pilihan seperti RAC, Pilihan-pilihan Partitioning, Spatial, dsb bisa dibeli terpisah untuk menunjang fungsionalitas database. - Oracle Standard Edition: Standard Edition digunakan oleh bisnis dan perusahaan dengan skala lebih kecil. Database options seperti Data Guard, Partitioning, Spatial, dsb. tidak available pada Standard Ed Edition. Standard Edition hanya bisa digunakan pada server dengan maksimum 4 prosesor. karena oracle standard edition tersebut hanya dapat mampu mensupport maksimum 2 socket processor pada satu server. Jadi misalkan kalau kita memiliki 1 server dan memiliki didalamnya lebih dari 2 socket processor maka oracle database standard edition tidak dapat dideploy pada server tersebut Oracle database 11g standard edition juga tidak dapat dipasang semua option database seperti partitioning, oracle data guard, security dll, kecuali RAC. Itupun hanya maksimum 4 socket dari total keseluruhan yg dipasang. Artinya apabila kita akan memasang RAC pada dua server maka akan total keseluruhan server tsb hanya bisa memiliki 4 socket ( 2 socket setiap servernya).
