the key architectural element in peter eisenman's wexner center for the arts is the
unique scaffolding element that pierces the complex by mimicing the angle of the
columbus, ohio city grid. this scaffolding system acts as the main circulation
corridor for the complex and provides an unique aesthetic effect. one can argue that
this scaffolding element can be viewed as creating an unfinished aesthetic to the
complex and therefore classifying the structure as a part of the movement known as
deconstructivism. although this "unfinished" part of the complex does not provide
any shelter from the elements, it provides an implied feeling of being indoors and
mimics a hallway with access to other programmatic elements within the complex.
