Abstrak

Kantor pos besar Surabaya yang terletak di jl. Kebon Rojo no.10 Surabaya ini beberapa kali
mengalami peralihan fungsi sebelum pada akhirnya menjadi kantor pos besar Surabaya. Sejarah Kota
Surabaya sebagai kota pahlawan menjadikan Kota Surabaya sebagai pusat pemerintahan pada masa
kolonial, terdapat banyak bangunan dengan fungsi kantor pelayanan jasa sebagai pemenuhan
kebutuhan pada zaman kolonial. Bangunan Kantor Pos Besar Surabaya bergaya Indische empire stijl
yang tampak pada elemen-elemen bangunan. kantor pos ini merupakan salah satu bangunan
bersejarah yang di jadikan sebagai cagar budaya oleh Pemerintah Kota Surabaya. Bentuk gevel yang
berada didepan dan belakang bangunan merupakan ciri utama gaya Indische empire stijl. beberapa
peralihan fungsi membuat bangunan yang sekarang menjadi kantor pos besar Surabaya ini memiliki
banyak nilai-nilai sejarah.

Abstract
Surabaya's major post office which is located at jl. Kebon Rojo no.10 Surabaya has undergone several
changes in function before eventually becoming the major post office in Surabaya. The history of the
city of Surabaya as a city of heroes made Surabaya the center of government during the colonial era,
there are many buildings with the function of service offices to fulfill the needs of the colonial era.
The Surabaya Post Office building is one of the buildings that has high historical value. The Surabaya
Post Office building is in the style of the Indische empire style which is visible in the building
elements. This post office is one of the historical buildings that has been made a cultural heritage by
the Surabaya City Government. The gevel shape at the front and back of the building is the main
characteristic of the Indische empire stijl style. Several functional changes have made the building
which is now a large Surabaya post office possess a lot of historical values.
