pronoun and write the correct sentence, and explain the reason why you choose the
specific pronoun among the others.

empty, so anyone know the culprit is.

empty, so nobody/no one knows who the culprit is.
b. The law of each country disciplines someone in that country through govermental institutions.
Answer: The law of each country disciplines everyone in that country through governmental institutions.
c. Your luggage is too heavy. I think you need to take anything you don’t need.
Answer: Your luggage is too heavy. I think you need to take out everything that you don’t need.
d. I have not seen Disa since last week. Has nothing seen her?
Answer: I have not seen Disa since last week. Has anyone seen her?
e. It was very embarrasing. The lecturer caught me laughing out loud in the classroom then I found someone
was suppressing their laugh at me.
Answer : It was very embarrassing. The lecturer caught me laughing out loud in the classroom then I found
everybody was suppressing thir laugh at me.
2. Analyze the following sentences, and identify which of the following sentences has auxiliary verb, regular
verb, and irregular verb!
a. The song is familiar, I think I have heard that song before.
Answer: Auxiliary verb = Have . regular verb = think. Irregular verb= heard.
b. Adis always accompanies her mother whenever she has free time.
Answer: Irregular verb: Accompanies
c. I just noticed since three days ago that my wallet has been lost.
Answer: Regular verb: Noticed, lost. Auxiliary= has been.
d. If the students are curious with the examination result, the students may check their scores on the university
website.
Answer: regular verb = check , auxiliary = are, adverb=curious.
e. Next Tuesday, I will be at the university to submit my paper.
Answer: Auxiliary= Will , regular verb= submit
3. Make a short paragraph using “Prepositional Phrases” (during, below, toward, despite, within,
through, across, toward(s), without, down)!
Answer:
As the time goes she gets more and more nervous. Sitting across what she called the room of hope. This time, she is
going to do it without Mark, her husband. Despite everyone’s advice she still wants to get through with the
procedure. Below the hospital light she waits. After 30 minutes she heard the nurse calls for her name. She enters,
walks towards the doctor’s bed. The nurse then inject her with the serum and within seconds she was down.
4. The following sentences have transitive, intransitive, and both (transitive and intransitive
verb). Please analyze the verbs on each sentence and write which transitive, intransitive, and both (transitive
and intransitive verb) on each sentence! Explain why the verb belongs
to transitive / intransitive / both (transitive and intransitive verb)!
a. Anna just called me that she would be late because her car just broke down in the middle of the road.
Answer: called = TRANSITIVE, because the verb "call" needs an object which is "me". broke down = TRANSITIVE & INTRANSITIVE,
the verb "break down" could both need an object and not.
b. When I ask my sister whether she would like to have a new Sherlock Holmes novel, she
nodded enthusiastically.

Answer: nodded = intransitive, an act that doesn’t need an object


Ask= transitive, require an object in order to be proper (to whom you ask) which is my sister

Have= transitive , need an object of what to have


c. I am afraid to fail this examination because the questions are so unexpected.

Answer: Fail = Transitive and Intransitive can have an object and not.
d. When the lecturer announces the class is dismissed, the students always leave immediately.

Answer: Announce= Transitive. required an object which is the class

Dismissed: transitive and intransitive. Can require object and not.

Leave = transitive and intransitive. Can use and object an not, in this sentence was followed by adverb immediately.
e. The music is too loud, it hurts my eardrum.
Answer: Hurts = Transitive and Intransitive. Can be used with object and not. In this sentence the object is my eardrum
