 ERROR ANALYSIS
1. Adjective
1.1. Definition of adjective
According to the definition in the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, an adjective is a word that
describes a person or thing. Examples of words that are adjectives in English are big, small, smart,
yellow, and so on.
An adjective is a word that describes or modifies a noun or pronoun, providing more
information about its qualities, characteristics, or attributes. Adjectives can convey details such as
size, color, shape, age, or other descriptive features. For instance, in the phrase "blue sky," "blue"
is an adjective describing the color of the sky.

2. Theory dulay
2.1. Strategy taxonomy by dulay
This category highlights the way surface structures are altered. Analyzing errors from this
taxonomy holds much promise for researchers as it is concerned with identifying cognitive
processes that underlie the learners’ reconstruction of the new language. This also gives us
consideration that students’ errors are not the result of laziness or sloppy thinking but are based on
some logics, as the result of the learners’ use of interim principles to produce a new language
(Dulay, et al,1982, pp. 154-162). Those types of errors which belong to surface strategy taxonomy
are (1) omission, (2) addition, (3) misformation, and (4) misordering.
1). Omission
Omission is a loss of word or part of a sentence there should be.
2). Addition
Addition is Adding words of parts of sentence that shouldn't be exist so that
the sentences become garmmatically wrong.
3). Misordering
Misordering is a mistake placement of a morpheme or group of morphome
in sentences.
4). Misformation
Misformation is use of forms, words, mophemes and structure wrong.
 1. Liza Ismawati
I have a friend, his name is Melinda Saptri. She lives in Sentang, She is gender is a girl.
My friens has the characteristics of good, cheer up, generous, helpful, likes to joke. Howevers she’s really
likes to gossip, emotional, perfectionist, talkative, lazy. She has one sister, she’s name is Sholeha Prativi.
She has a sharp nose, She’s jealous.
Analysis
The adjective “good” is correctly.
The adjective “cheerr up” is correctly.
The adjective “generous” is correctly.
The adjective “hepful” is correctly.
The adjective “joke” is correctly.
The adjective “gossip” is correctly.
The adjective “emotional” is correctly.
The adjective “perfectionist” is correctly.
The adjective “talkative” is correctly.
The adjective “lazy” is correctly.
The adjective “jealous” is correctly.

2. Fajri
I have a friend his name is Dil.R.Pasaribu. His live is Kisaran, His’s small, nauahty. His hobby is flaying
foodball and his has skin brown.
Analysis
 The adjective “small” is correctly placed before the noun “body”.
 The adjective of “nauahty” is wrong. The correct answer is “naughty”. Because the adjective
naughty should be like that

3. Satria
I have a friend, hes name is Rendi. He is kindd out
Analysis
 The adjective of “kindd” is wrong. The correct answer is “kind”. Because the adjective kind
should be like that.

4. Rasya Zamzami Dio

I have a friend and name is Vikri Arzaky. He live in Sei Dadap.
Vikri have a good attitude, he have a born sign in head. Have born sign in face, he likes play in foot ball.
Analysis
 The adjective of “good” is true.

5. Silvi Andarini Chaniago

I two havechairmate. Her name is Aira. She live in Kisaran. She have hobby is playing basket.
She is good, silent like angry, no clear like helping. Silvi have tall like smile.
 Analysis
 The adjective “good” is correctly.
 The adjective of “Angry” is true.
 The adjective of “angry” is correctly.
 The adjective “tall” is correctly placed before the noun “body”.

6. Melinda Saputri
I have a friend, his name is Liza Ismawati. She lives in Sentang, She is gender a girl.
My friend has the characteristics of good, beatiful, care, affectionate, likes to gossip, crazy. However, she
really likes to mischievous, active. She has one sister, she’s name is Dela Safira. She has a tall body,
brown skin, snub nose.
Analysis
 The adjective “good” is correctly.
 The adjective “beautiful” is correctly.
 The adjective “affectionate” is correctly.
 The word “gossip”refers to a noun, not an adjective. If you want to make it into an adjective, you
have to add the letter “y” to the end of the word to make the word “gossipy”.
 The adjective “crazy” is correctly.
 The adjective “mischievous” is correctly.
 The word “activt” is wrong. The “t” at the end should be “e”. which then becomes “active”.
 The adjective “tall” is correctly placed before the noun “body”.
 The adjective “brown” is correctly placed before the noun “skin”.

I have a teacher her name is mem Arfa . she is teacher in SMPN 1 Kisaran, mem Arfa have the
quality pleasure fussy happiness give.
Analysis:

 “ I have a teacher; her name is mem Arfa” is correct in present tense

 “she is a teacher in SMPN1 Kisaran” correct in present tense
 “ mem Arfa have the quality pleasure fussy happiness give”
-correction: “mem Arfa has qualities such as pleasure, meticulousness, and happiness to offer”
this maintains consistent present tense and improves the sentence’s grammar.

8. Meilinda Saputri
 I have a friend, his name is Liza Ismawati, he lives in sentang he is gender a girl.
 My friend has the characteristics of good, beautiful, care, affectionate, likes to gossip, crazy
however , she really likes to mischievous , activt, she has one sister, she’s names is dela safira, she
has a tall body , brownskin, snub nose.
 Analysis:
 “I have a friend, his name is Liza Ismawati, he lives in sentang he is gender a girl.”
- Correction: “I have a friend; her name is Liza Ismawati. She lives in Sentang, and she is a girl.”
This corrects gender pronouns and adds clarity to the sentence structure.
 “My friend has the characteristics of good, beautiful, care, affectionate, likes to gossip, crazy
however , she really likes to mischievous , activt, she has one sister, she’s names is dela safira, she
has a tall body , brownskin, snub nose.”
- Correction: “My friend possesses good, beautiful, caring, and affectionate qualities. She likes to
gossip, is a bit crazy, and particularly enjoys mischief. She is active and has one sister named Dela
Safira, who has a tall body, brown skin, and a snub nose.” This corrects adjective usage, improves
sentence structure, and maintains consistency in tense and gender pronouns.

9. MHD Radit Aditia

I have a friend and he name is adjie yandra he live in kisaran. I already friend with adjie 1 year.
Adjie have a good attitude , he handsome, have round face, have born sign in face, he likes play
volley
Analysis:
 "I have a friend and he name is adjie yandra he live in kisaran."

radit 1 years. Radit have a good attitude, he handsome , have round face , have born sign in face ,
he likes play volley

Analysis
 The adjective “good” is correctly.

- Correction : I've been friends with him since a year ago
