ABSTRACT
Writing is a language skill that is used to communicate indirectly. To make it easier for
readers to understand the writer's ideas, writers should convey their ideas systematically. In
writing using Balinese scripts, writers are not only required to be able to express their ideas
systematically but, writers must be able to write with Balinese scripts. At the junior high school
level, writing with Balinese characters has been given but the results have not been maximized.
Considering the above, there is a desire to research on how the ability to write Balinese
scripts by applying participatory techniques to students of class VII D Dwijendra Denpasar
junior high school in the academic year 2022/2023? The purpose of this research was to
determine the ability to write Balinese scripts of students in class VII D Dwijendra Denpasar
junior high school as well as to foster and improve student learning activities and creativity.
The theory used in this research was the theory of writing related to writing Balinese
scripts. This research type was quantitative research using students of class VII D Dwijendra
Denpasar junior high school as the data source.
Furthermore, in collecting data using test and interview methods. After the data was
collected, it was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis method. From the results of data
analysis, it was found that students of class VII D of Dwijendra Denpasar Junior High School in
the academic year 2022/2023 were able to write Balinese scripts well. By showing the average
score in the pre-cycle of 56.5 and cycle I of 8.5. The increase in writing ability is due to the
researcher's efforts to add learning strategies by adding participatory techniques.
It can be concluded that the ability to write Balinese scripts of VII D students of Dwijendra
Denpasar Junior High School in the academic year 2022/2023 was categorized as good, this is
evidenced by the results of the ability research showing an increase in the average score of 56.5
in the pre-cycle and increased to 8.5 in the first cycle.
Based on the results above, it was hoped that teachers in the field of study, especially
Balinese, will improve learning methods, so that students feel happy and excited during the
learning process.
