KATA PENGANTAR
Dalam rangka perencanaan pembangunan PLTM Sumber Jaya, yang terletak di Desa Way
Petai, Kecamatan Sumber Jaya, Kabupaten Lampung Barat, Provinsi Lampung, maka perlu
diketahui penyebaran kondisi tanah bawah permukaan terutama kedalaman lapisan tanah
pendukung Fondasi Bendung dan Tunnel yang akan di rencanakan, untuk itu telah dilakukan
penyelidikan geoteknik baik di lapangan maupun di laboratorium.
Pekerjaan penyelidikan di lapangan yang terdiri dari pengujian geolistrik, pemboran inti yang
diikuti dengan pengujian SPT, pengujian permeability pada rencana lokasi bendung dan
pengambilan contoh tanah dan batuan. Pekerjaan di lapangan telah dilaksanakan sejak tanggal
9 Agustus 2019 dan berakhir pada tanggal 13 Oktober 2019, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan
pekerjaan pengujian laboratorium dan penyusunan laporan.
Laporan ini menyajikan metoda pelaksanaan penyelidikan dan pengujian tanah yang telah
dilakukan, data hasil penyelidikan, dan evaluasi data penyelidikan tanah.

Dalam rangka perencanaan dan pembangunan PLTM Sumber Jaya yang terletak di Desa
Way Petai, Kecamatan Sumber Jaya, Kabupaten Lampung Barat, Provinsi Lampung, pihak
pengembang telah meminta dilakukan penyelidikan geoteknik baik di lapangan maupun di
laboratorium. Penyelidikan lapangan yang telah dilakukan meliputi pengujian geolistrik,
pemboran inti yang diikuti dengan pengujian SPT, pengujian permeability pada area
bendung dan pengambilan contoh tanah selama penyelidikan berlangsung untuk pengujian
di laboratorium. Sedangkan pekerjaan pengujian laboratorium yang telah dilakukan adalah
pengujian sifat fisik dan mekanis dari contoh tanah dan batuan yang diambil dari lubang bor
inti. Selanjutnya data hasil penyelidikan geoteknik ini akan digunakan untuk perencanaan
kontruksi dari bangunan yang akan dibangun agar dapat diperoleh perencanaan yang
effektif dan efisien.
2. LINGKUP PEKERJAAN
Lingkup pekerjaan penyelidikan geoteknik ini terdiri dari :
Pengujian Geolistrik
Pemboran Inti sebanyak 11 titik dengan kedalaman maksimum 50 meter
Pengujian Standard Penetration Test (SPT) dengan interval kedalaman 2 m
Pengujian laboratorium terhadap contoh tanah
Pengujian Permeability di Area Bendung
Pembuatan Laporan yang berisi data penyelidikan dan rekomendasi
Pekerjaan bor inti ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan mata bor tungsteen yang
menghasilkan inti tanah atau batuan berdiameter 76 mm apabila dipakai single core barrel
dan 50 mm apabila dipakai double core barrel. Mata bor yang dipasang pada ujung core
barrel dihubungkan dengan stang bor yang kemudian diputar sambil ditekan masuk ke
dalam tanah. Pemutaran dan penekanan dilakukan oleh sistim hidrolik dari mesin bor
TOHO D2G, buatan Jepang. Setiap kali core barrel penuh dengan tanah atau batuan, core
barrel tersebut diangkat ke permukaan untuk dikeluarkan inti tanah dan batuan yang
terperangkap didalamnya, kemudian dideskripsikan jenis, warna dan sifat konsistensinya
secara visual. Pada saat berlangsungnya pekerjaan pemboran inti diambil juga contoh
tanah tak terganggu (UDS) dari dalam lubang bor dengan menggunakan tabung tipis
(Shelby tube sampler). Tabung tipis ini ditusukkan ke dalam tanah dengan cara ditekan
dengan spindle hidrolis dari mesin bor atau dipukul dengan palu SPT bila tanah yang
dijumpai cukup kaku. Setelah tabung contoh diangkat ke permukaan dan dilepas dari stang
bor kemudian kedua ujungnya segera ditutup dengan lilin cair untuk mencegah penguapan
kadar air contoh tanah. Selanjutnya hasil deskripsi inti tanah hasil pemboran, kedalaman
pengambilan contoh tanah tak terganggu dan kedalaman muka air tanah dari setiap titik
pemboran disajikan dalam bentuk diagram Boring Log.
Pada saat pekerjaan Bor Inti berlangsung, dilakukan juga pengujian Standard Penetration
test (SPT) untuk setiap interval kedalaman 2 meter. SPT test dilakukan dengan cara
menghitung jumlah pukulan palu pemukul yang diperlukan untuk mendesak tabung contoh
Split Spoon Sampler berdiameter 2” sedalam 30 cm ke dalam tanah. Berat palu pemukul
yang dipergunakan adalah 63,5 kg dengan tinggi jatuh 75 cm. Penghitungan jumlah
pukulan dilakukan 3 kali yaitu setiap penetrasi 15 cm. Nilai SPT diperoleh dengan
menjumlahkan jumlah pukulan yang diperlukan pada 15 cm penetrasi kedua dan ketiga.
Hasil pengujian Standrad Penetration Test (SPT) ini disajikan dalam bentuk grafik pada Log
Bor Inti.
Pengambilan contoh tanah tak terganggu (UDS) ini dilakukan melalui pekerjaan Bor Inti.
Untuk pengambilan melalui pekerjaan bor inti dengan cara tabung tipis yang disambung
dengan stang-stang bor dengan suatu alat yang disebut pemegang tabung contoh. Alat
dipakai untuk lempung, yang lunak sampai yang sedang. Tabung contoh dimasukkan ke
dalam dasar lubang bor, dan kemudian ditekan ke dalam tanah asli yang akan diambil
contohnya pada dasar lubang bor, setelah tabung diangkat kemudian kedua ujung tabung
segera ditutup dengan lilin cair untuk mencegah penguapan kadar air dari contoh tanah.
Selanjutnya hasil pengambilan contoh tanah tak terganggu ini dibawa untuk dilakukan
pengujian di laboratorium.
Pengujian laboratorium dilakukan terhadap contoh tanah yang didapat selama pemboran
berlangsung. Pelaksanaan pengujian laboratorium ini dilakukan dengan mengacu pada
standar pengujian yang diakui dan dapat diuraikan sebagai berikut:
Atterberg Limits
Pengujian Atterberg Limits terdiri atas :
Batas Cair (Liquid Limit), wL adalah kadar air tertentu di mana perilaku berubah dari
kondisi plastis ke cair. Pada kadar air tersebut tanah mempunyai kuat geser yang
terendah. Nilai ini dapat ditentukan sebagai kadar air yang terkandung pada jumlah
pukulan 25 pada percobaan Casagrande. Batas Plastis (Plastic Limit), wP adalah
kadar air terendah dimana tanah mulai bersifat plastis. Dalam hal ini sifat plastis
ditentukan berdasarkan kondisi di mana tanah yang digulung dengan telapak tangan,
di atas kaca mulai retak setelah mencapai diameter 1/8 inci. Pengujian mengikuti
metoda ASTM D4318. Batas Susut (Shrinkage Limit), wS adalah batas kadar air
dimana tanah dengan kadar air di bawah nilai tersebut tidak menyusut lagi (tidak
berubah volume). Pengujian mengikuti metoda ASTM D 427
Nilai-nilai ini digunakan dalam klasifikasi tanah dan dapat dikorelasikan terhadap
parameter lainnya.
Grainsize Analysis
Pengujian ini dilakukan dalam dua tahapan, yaitu: analisa saringan untuk butiran kasar
(pasir dan gravel) dan analisa hidrometer untuk butiran halus (lempung dan lanau).
Tanah dengan kandungan kedua butiran ini diuji dengan material yang lolos dari
Data ini diperlukan untuk melengkapi data klasifikasi tanah. Kurva ini dapat juga
digunakan untuk menentukan parameter lainnya, seperti diameter efektif (D10) dan
koefisien keseragaman (Coefficient of Uniformity ,Cu). Pengujian ini mengikuti metoda
ASTM D 422 dan ASTM D 1140 – 00.
Triaxial Test
PercobaanTriaxial test ini mencakup dua jenis kondisi, yaitu pada kondisi
Consolidated Undrained (CU) dan kondisi Unconsolidated Undrained (UU).
Dalam pengujian ini, contoh tanah telah mengalami penurunan secara isotropic dan
digeser dalam tekanan tanpa keluarnya air pada kecepatan deformasi sumbu yang
konstan. Metoda pengujian ini dapat mengukur kuat geser pada keadaan total
Pada pengujian ini contoh tanah tidak diperkenankan mengalami perubahan kadar air
asli sebelum maupun selama pergeseran. Hasilnya berupa parameter kuat geser total.
Uji ini diutamakan untuk menghitung stabilitas bendungan pada kondisi beban yang
cepat. Pengujian megikuti ASTM D 2850.
4. HASIL PENYELIDIKAN
Daerah pengembangan PLTM Sumber Jaya yang terletak di desa Way PetaI, Kabupaten
lampung Barat termasuk dalam lembar Kotaagung yang terletak di ujung selatan Sumatra,
yang mana bagian selatan di batasi oleh Lautan Hindia, Kabupaten Lampung Utara dan
Kabupaten lampung Selatan. Peta geologi lembar ini, disusun oleh Amin T.C. dkk. Tahun
1994.

Perhitungan nilai rata-rata untuk harga N dilakukan dengan formula sebagai berikut:
Perhitungan di atas dilakukan untuk ketebalan lapisan 30 m pertama diukur dari muka
tanah. Berdasarkan nilai NSPT rata-rata tersebut, secara umum lapisan tanah permukaan
yang berada pada proyek PLTM Sumber Jaya berada pada kategori tanah sedang. Hasil
perhitungan nilai rata-rata untuk harga N dapat dilihat pada Tabel. 2.
Dari hasil deskripsi inti tanah yang diperoleh selama berlangsungnya pemboran inti yang mencapai kedalaman maksimum 50 m dari permukaan
tanah setempat, secara garis besar pola lapisan tanah bawah permukaan di lokasi yaitu :

Posisi titik bor dalam area penyelidikan tanah dapat dilihat pada lampiran A dan deskripsi tanah yang lebih rinci dapat dilihat pada boring log di
lampiran B.
Pengujian mekanika tanah telah dilakukan di laboratorium terhadap contoh tanah tak terganggu yang berhasil diambil dari lubang bor.

Setelah terbendung maka air sungai meningkat elevasinya. Air sungai tersebut kemudian
dialirkan melalui Tunnel #1. Untuk mengetahui profil perlapisan tanah dan batuan di
sepanjang rencana Tunnel #1, telah dilakukan pemboran pada titik BH-4 dan BH-10.
Berdasarkan hasil deskripsi tanah dan batuan dari kedua titik bor tersebut dan dikorelasikan
dengan hasil geolistrik, diketahui bahwa sebagian besar jalur Tunnel #1 akan menembus
lapisan tanah pasir kerikilan dengan sisipan lanau dan boulder andesite, tersementasi
dengan baik. Walaupun pada saat pemboran pada titik BH-4 dan BH-10 tidak dijumpai
adanya air tanah, tetap perlu diwaspadai bahwa lapisan pasir kerikilan ini merupakan lapisan
pembawa air atau aquifer, tidak dijumpainya air dalam lubang bor bisa jadi dikarenakan
musim kemarau yang panjang pada waktu berlangsungnya penyelidikan ini. Untuk itu tetap
disarankan persiapan sistim dewatering yang baik selama penggalian pada saat konstruksi
Tunnel #1. Untuk mengurangi besarnya air rembesan dapat juga dilakukan upaya sementasi
atau grouting. Sementasi tidak hanya mengurangi rembesan tetapi juga akan memperkuat
lapisan tanah atau batuan yang akan digali agar tidak mudah runtuh.
Untuk mengurangi resiko berkurangnya air produksi karena rembesan melalui dasar kolam,
maka disarankan untuk melapisi dasar kolam Sand Trap dengan lapisan kedap air; antara
lain beton bertulang atau shotcrete yang diperkuat dengan wiremesh.
Berdasarkan hasil deskripsi tanah dan batuan dari ketiga titik bor tersebut dan dikorelasikan
dengan hasil geolistrik, diketahui bahwa sebagian besar jalur Tunnel #2 akan menembus
lapisan tanah pasir kerikilan dengan sisipan lanau dan boulder andesite, tersementasi
dengan baik. Muka air tanah dijumpai pada saat pemboran pada titik BH-5, BH-6 dan BH-11,
sehingga perlu diwaspadai bahwa lapisan pasir kerikilan ini merupakan lapisan pembawa air
atau aquifer, dijumpainya air dalam lubang bor bisa jadi masalah yang akan mengganggu
proses penggalian. Untuk itu disarankan dilakukan dewatering baik dari dalam terowongan
maupun dari luar terowongan bilamana diperlukan. Dewatering perlu dilakukan selama
penggalian pada saat konstruksi Tunnel #2. Untuk mengurangi besarnya air rembesan dapat
juga dilakukan upaya sementasi atau grouting. Sementasi tidak hanya mengurangi
rembesan tetapi juga akan memperkuat lapisan tanah atau batuan yang akan digali agar
tidak mudah runtuh.
Berdasarkan hasil penyelidikan geoteknik pada titik bor BH-7 yang mewakili sebagian besar
daerah galian, maka galian akan menemui lapisan tanah penutup yang tebal berupa
lempung coklat kemerahan dengan ketepalan sampai 12 m. Konsistensi tanah lempung
coklat kemerahan ini sangat baik (SPT N = 10 – 20), untuk lereng galian bisa dibuat dengan
kemiringan 1 V : 1 H, tergantung kedalaman galian yang akan dibuat, semakin dalam
diperlukan berm sebagai pengaman apabila terjadi longsoran.
Selanjutnya pada area di sekitar BH-8 pipa Penstock berada di permukaan tanah dan
kalaupun ada galian tidak banyak. Berbeda dengan kondisi tanah pada BH-7, kondisi lapisan
tanah dan batuan pada BH-8 mempunyai tanah penutup yang tipis, sekitar 2 m berupa tanah
lempung lanauan berwarna coklat kekuningan yang lunak. Dibawah lapisan penutup ini
dijumpai lapisan tanah lempung kerikilan (Gravelly Clay) yang sangat kompeten (SPT N = 30
– 50). Disarankan apabila beberapa station dari pipa Penstock memerlukan fondasi dangkal,
maka disarankan meletakkan dasar fondasi pada lapisan lempung kerikilan ini.
Rekomendasi daya dukung lapisan lempung gravelean ini adalah 10 ton/m2.
