Sensasi

Sensasi merupakan tahapan paling awal dalam


penerimaan informasi. Menurut Benyamin B. Wolman (
1973: 343 ) “ Sensasi adalah pengalaman elementer
yang segera, yang terutama sekali berhubungan dengan
kegiatan alat indera, ”

Persepsi
Persepsi adalah pengalaman tentang objek, peristiwa, atau hubungan-
hubungan yang diperoleh dengan menyimpulkan informasi dan
menafsirkan pesan. Desiderato menyebutkan bahwa meskipun sensasi ada
hubunganya dengan persepsi namun dalam menafsirkan makna informasi
inderawi tidak hanya melibatkan sensasi, tapi juga atensi, ekspektasi,
motivasi, dan memori.

Ketika Riska mencium wangi bunga, Riska mengalami sensasi. Ia menyadari
wewangian tersebut sama dengan parfum yang sering dikenakannya. Kesadaran
atau interpretasi Riska terhadap wewangian bunga itulah yang disebut dengan
persepsi. Persepsi ditentukan oleh faktor perhatian (attention), faktor situasional,
dan faktor personal.
