kontak 5 menit (69,9%).

Kata kunci: limbah zat warna, adsorpsi, serbuk cangkang telur, methylene blue,
kalsinasi.

ABSTRACT

The increasing use of dyes in various industries, leaving environmental issues that
must be addressed. Various methods have been made to reduce the dye waste, one of
them is adsorption. The use of low-cost adsorbents and easy to get becoming one of
the considerations in selecting the type of adsorbent. The purpose of this study was to
determine the potential of eggshell powder as adsorbent of methylene blue and to
determine the optimum operating conditions for adsorption process using calcined
eggshell powder with a batch process on a laboratory scale. The study was conducted
by varying the operating parameters which were contact time, pH, adsorbent mass
and temperature in order to study their effectiveness in adsorption methylene blue
using calcined eggshell powder. The results showed that the optimum conditions for
removal of methylene blue was at pH 8 (77.3%), temperature 27oC (62.9%), by using
2 grams of calcined eggshell powder (59.3%) and 5 minutes contact time (69, 9%).
