RINGKASAN
Sindrom ini dimulai antara usia 1 dan 14 tahun, pada usia rata-rata 4-5
tahun. Kejang relatif jarang, dan hingga 30% anak-anak hanya mengalami satu
episode (Ferrie et al., 1997). Kejang sebagian besar nokturnal dan dimulai dengan
keluhan perasaan mual, berlanjut menjadi muntah yang mungkin berlarut-larut.
Deviasi lateral mata dan muntah sering berkembang menjadi kehilangan
kesadaran dan, pada sekitar sepertiga kasus menjadi sentakan klonik unilateral.
Durasi kejang bervariasi antara beberapa menit hingga beberapa jam
(Panayiotopoulos, 1999). Gejala visual jarang terjadi (Ferrie et al., 1997). Kejang
yang berlangsung lama dapat menunjukkan gangguan neurologis atau perut akut
yang parah (Kivity & Lerman, 1992; Panayiotopoulos & Igoe, 1992).
