1. Assessment 1: Education System (15%)
This assessment is in the form of a list of questions in learning
lang.umy.ac.id. To do the assessment, you just need to open the assessment
part on online learning and answer the question online.
Procedure:
In a group of 4-5, you will work on one of the following topics: (1) Individual
TPD in secondary schools (Interviewing English teachers), (2)Institutional
TPD in secondary schools (Interviewing the headmaster) (3) Individual TPD in
higher education (Interviewing English lecturers), (4) Institutional TPD in
higher education (Interviewing the head of study programs: PBJ and PBA)
Read more on TPD topics to deepen your understanding.
Make necessary arrangement for your interviews, and when necessary, an
interview guideline. Consult your plan with the lecturer. Before the
consultation, make sure you re-read and re-comprehend the articles about
certain topics of TPD.
Ask permit to the participants politely. Permit letters will be provided when
necessary. During the data collection, make sure you record and take notes
of the important points. Be alert on interesting things that may appear during
your data collection process. Keep in mind that you need to relate your
interviews on TPD.
When you are done with the data collection (observation and/or interview),
transcribe the interviews and start writing your field observation report.
Code the data and find similar patterns.
Page 6
Start writing the report of the interviews. The report consists of around 2000
(1800 – 2200) and contains three parts:
(i) an introductory part which introduces your topic/ subject(s) and your
rationale of why you are interested to research it (approximately 500
words);
(ii) a report part which talks about the result of your interviews
(approximately 1000 words). Please provide examples (quoted from
the observation and interviews) that show the phenomenon you talk
about.
(iii) a discussion part which shows how your interviews result connects with
topics in TPD (approximately 500 words). Include what you read in the
references or any other sources you have (if available).
Plan your presentation and poster. Your poster should include a summary of
your subject, observation findings and discussion. You can design the poster
as you like.
Print your poster and present it in front of the class for 10-15 minutes. Your
friends may ask 2-3 questions.
Grading:
The assignment is worth 35% of your total score.
What I will see from this assignment include:
Report The report part shows novel and original findings from 10
their field observation. The report also offers clear
examples from the data that support their explanation.
Another important element that makes a good report part
