RECOUNT TEXT

HOW TO WRITE AN EXCELLENT RECOUNT TEXT

1. THE POINTS NEED TO BE CONSIDERED BEFORE WRITING (POIN-POIN

YANG PERLU DIPERHATIKAN SEBELUM MENULIS)

 What are you going to tell your audience? What are you recounting? (apa yang ingin kamu
ceritakan kepada pembacamu?apa yang kamu ceritakan?)
 What information will the audience need early in the text? (Informasi apa yang diperlukan
para pembaca pada awal text?
 What are the important events or parts of the recount you want to describe? And what
order will they occur in? (Kejadian/bagian penting apa yang ingin kamu gambarkan? Dan
bagaimana itu terjadi?)
 How will you let your readers know the order of events? And what language will we use to
link them?
 What other information may be useful to include? (Informasi apa saja yang
berguna/penting dalam ceritamu?)
 How will you conclude your recount? (Bagaimana caramu menyimpulkan text recount?)

Be sure you can recount the who, what, when and where as the bare minimum using graphic
organizers, and mind maps if necessary to help make this process clear in your mind before
putting pen to paper and expecting your audience to follow along.

At this point consider some of the questions your audience might ask whilst reading your recount
such as.
ketika membaca recount mu seperti)

 What occurred? (apa yang terjadi)

 Where did it take place? (dimana itu terjadi)
 When did it occur? (Kapan itu terjadi)
 Who were the main characters / people involved? (Siapa tokoh utamanya/siapa orang-
orang yang terlibat?)
 Why did certain things happen? (Kenapa itu terjadi)
 How did things happen? ( bagaimana itu terjadi)
 What were some of the reactions to the events that occurred in your recount? (apa reaksi
terhadap peristiwa yang terjadi dalam recount mu?
 What are the concluding thoughts or ideas you want to leave with your readers? ( apa

2. TIPS FOR WRITING A GREAT RECOUNT

 Keep the title simple that summarizes the main element of the text such as “ Barack
Obama” and “ A trip to the Zoo” (Buat judul simple yang merangkum semua poin/elemen dari text
seperti “Barack Obama”and ”A trip to the Zoo”)
 Use the past tense because it has already happened. Eg "It was the biggest fish I had ever
seen!" (gunakan “past tense” kaerena apa yang akan kamu ceritakan telah terjadi sebelumnya.)
 Recounts are written in the order in which they happened. This is called chronological order.
Use adverbs such as: firstly, next, then and finally. (Recount adalah tulisan yang menceritakan apa
yang telah terjadi. Ini biasa disebut dengan urutan kronologis. Gunakan adverb seperti firstly, next,
then and finally)
 Using descriptive words will make it seem like your reader is there with you. Eg "The fish
was shiny and slippery." Focus on the most exciting parts. (gunakan kata deskriptif / kata yang
menggambarkan apa yang terjadi hal ini akan membuat pembaca mu paham seolah-olah mereka ada
didalam kejadian itu bersama dengan mu)
