Pembagian Korea Utara dan Korea Selatan berawal dari akhir Perang Dunia II pada tahun 1945,

ketika Semenanjung Korea, yang diduduki oleh Jepang, dibagi menjadi dua zona pendudukan oleh
Amerika Serikat dan Uni Soviet. Uni Soviet menduduki bagian utara semenanjung, sedangkan
Amerika Serikat menduduki bagian selatan.

flashback sedikit ke beberapa peristiwa penting sebelum Jepang menyerah kepada Amerika Serikat.
Seperti yang kita ketahui, saat itu Perang Dunia II (1 Sep 1939 – 2 Sep 1945) sedang berlangsung di
mana terjadi peperangan antara Blok Poros(Jerman, Jepang, dan Italia) dan Sekutu (Britania Raya,
Prancis, Uni Soviet, Tiongkok, dan Amerika Serikat). untuk menyusun rencana menghadapi Blok
Poros, Sekutu banyak mengadakan konferensi yang berkenaan dengan korea. yaitu; konferensi kairo
dimana mereka ingin korea menang dari jepang, konferensi yalta, dan konferensi postdam diamna
jepang tidak mau menyerah melawan blok barat. Kemudian pada 8 Agustus 1945, USSR pun
melancarkan serangan pertama terhadap Jepang di Manchuria yang saat itu sedang diduduki oleh
Jepang.

Baru dua hari setelah mereka mendeklarasikan perang atas Jepang, tiba-tiba saja pada tanggal 10
Agustus 1945 mereka sudah memasuki bagian utara Semenanjung Korea. Namun laju Tentara Merah
yang ternyata sangat cepat justru membuat Amerika Serikat panik.Amerika Serikat takut USSR malah
menguasai Korea sepenuhnya. Maka, AS kemudian segera memetakan batas laju invasi, batas
tersebut yang kita kenal sekarang sebagai Garis Paralel ke-38 atau Garis Demarkasi. Dari mana asal
angka tersebut? Dua perwira muda AS yaitu Dean Rusk dan Charles Bonesteel menentukan garis
peta 38°LU sebagai batas yang kira-kira membagi Korea menjadi dua. sesuai General Order No,1,
pasukan Jepang yang berada di atas garis paralel 38° LU diperintahkan untuk menyerah ke Tentara
Merah alias USSR, sedangkan yang berada di bawah garis tersebut diperintahkan untuk menyerah ke
Amerika Serikat.

Perang Korea Selatan dan Korea Utara di Masa Perang Dingin. Setelah melawan Blok Poros,
hubungan As dan USSR pun mulai renggang. Penyebabnya tak lain karena perbedaan ideologi. Untuk
hal ini Korea Selatan yang condong ke AS tentu mengikuti paham yang dianutnya, begitupun Korea
Utara yang didukung Uni Soviet dengan paham komunisnya. Perang ini mulanya terjadi ketika pihak
Korea Utara yang didukung dan dipengaruhi oleh USSR (dan Tiongkok) mulai menyerang Korea
Selatan yang didukung oleh AS (dan PBB). Tentunya Korea Selatan tidak tinggal diam, setelah
diserang pada Juni hingga September 1950, Korea Selatan menyerang balik Korea Utara

Cairo conference where they wanted Korea to win over Japan, the Yalta conference, and the
Postdam conference where Japan did not want to give up against the western bloc. Then on
August 8, 1945, the USSR launched its first attack on Japan in Manchuria, which was then
occupied by Japan.

Just two days after they declared war on Japan, suddenly on August 10, 1945 they had
entered the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. However, the speed of the Red Army,
which turned out to be very fast, actually made the United States panic. The United States
was afraid that the USSR would completely control Korea. So, the US then immediately
mapped the limits of the invasion rate, these limits which we know today as the 38th
Parallel Line or the Demarcation Line. Where do these numbers come from? Two junior US
officers, Dean Rusk and Charles Bonesteel, determined the map line 38°N as the boundary
roughly dividing Korea in two. according to General Order No. 1, Japanese troops above the
38° parallel line were ordered to surrender to the Red Army, aka USSR, while those below
