A. Uraian Materi
1. Key features expression of opinions and thoughts
a. Definition
According to kemendikbud (2017), an opinion is the way you feel or think about something.
Meanwhile Cambridge Adavanced Learner’s Dictionary (2008) defines that opinion is a
judgment about someone or something. Our opinion about something or someone is
based on our perspective.
b. Social Function
The social function expression of asking and giving opinions and thoughts is to ask or
express other people’s opinion on a matter or an issue. Whenever we give or express
our opinion, it is important to give reasoning or an example to support our opinion.
Opinions can be expressed using mental verbs like believe, think, doubt, assume, feel,
etc
Opinions can be expressed in the ways given below.
c. Generic Structure
Generic Structure of giving opinion and thought consists of three elements, they are:
- Starting / opening
Phrases or sentences that lead situation related to the topic
- Response
An answer or reaction for an idea/opinion

B. Rangkuman
Opinion and thought intinya adalah pada kata opini dan argumen. Opini adalah pendapat sedangkan
argumen adalah alasan.
Dialog opini adalah dialog yang saling mengutarakan pendapat tentang satu hal. jadi masing
masing punya opni sendiri-sendiri. Biasanya menggunakan kata in my opinion, in my view, I
thnk dan sebagainya. sedangkan dialog argumen adalah dialog yang saling menyatakan
argumen atau alasan alasan. biasanya menggunakan kata kata first, second , dan
seterusnya untuk mngurutkan argumaenya

The house styles and ornaments are very traditional. They also have a unique tradition
called “Perang Pandan”.
Andre : Yes, I ever heard about it. Some people say that “Perang Pandan” is an offering
