Bed of Particles
Prinsipnya adalah memanfaatkan perbedaan densitas antara mineral yang ingin
dipisahkan dengan menggunakan gerakan berulang-ulang dari media pemisah,
yang sering disebut sebagai "bed of particles" atau lapisan partikel

Metode Pemberian Air

Air digunakan sebagai media pemisah dan membantu mengatur gerakan partikel
mineral dalam bed of particles

Pengaruh Gaya Gravitasi

Prinsip dasar jigging adalah memanfaatkan perbedaan densitas mineral untuk

STUDI KASUS
PENGARUH KECEPATAN ALIRAN AIR PADA PENCUCIAN PASIR BESI MENGGUNAKAN
OPERASIONAL JIGGING
Jig adalah pemisah gravitasi yang menggunakan denyut (ekspansi berulang dan kontraksi lapisan vertikal partikel) air.
Hasil dari gerakan ini adalah stratifikasi unggun, di mana kerapatan bahan terbelah secara berurutan dari atas ke bawah
Pemilihan bahan baku pasir besi sangat penting untuk memperoleh pigmen mineral berkualitas tinggi, kilap warna dan
kemurnian, yaitu bebas dari kontaminan kimia. Pasir besi yang akan digunakan berasal dari Pantai Manikin yang ada di Kabupaten
Kupang.
Jig diumpankan dengan pasir besi. Setelah sampel dibersihkan maka dilakukan pengujian XRF dan XRD untuk
menentukan kandungan Fe dalam bahan yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian. Analisis XRF dan EDS dilakukan pada umpan,
konsentrat dan tailing. Studi mineralogi menunjukkan bahwa bijih besi mengandung hematit dan goethite sebagai mineral yang
mengandung zat besi, kaolinit dan gibbsite, alumina utama mineral gangue sebagian besar disumbangkan oleh mineral kuarsa dan
tanah liat
 Umpan dimasukkan ke jig menggunakan vibrator feeder. pengaruh kecepatan aliran pada kondisi amplitudo dan
frekuensi yang tepat untuk menghitung efisensi pemisahan. Analisis berdasarkan efisiensi pemisahan dilakukan di sini untuk
mengetahui efek kecepatan air maksimum dan rasio ukuran partikel dalam jigging.

Solusi
Faktor aliran air pada jigging akan mempengaruhi proses pemisahan. pada partikel kasar sangat terpengaruh oleh proses
pulsion dan suction sehingga proses stratifikasi berjalan sehingga terjadi proses pemisahan antara mineral berat dan mineral
ringan. Sedangkan pada ukuran halus memang memiliki tingkat pemisahan yang tinggi tapi hampir tidak terpengaruh oleh
perubahan kecepatan aliran air. Oleh karena itu pada ukuran halus diuji kembali dengan menggunakan variasi amplitudo
