II. Supporting Feature

Short Functional Text
Personal letters are letters you write to people you have already known well or been
familiar with, such as family members, friends, classmates or pen friends. The topics of
personal letters can be various, but mostly something that interests both the sender and
receiver/recipient. For example, news about family, friends, schools and hobbies. The topics
can be also about interesting and exciting activities, such as holidays, birthdays, carnivals,
school camps.
As the name implies, personal letters can be written conversationally. So, id does not strictly
follow formal and guarded letters. However, you should remember one thing when you
write a personal letter. You should ask the letter receivers about what they have been
doing and what have been happening in their lives.
Here are the steps and the template you can follow when writing personal letters.
1. Write your name and address on the top right hand corner of the page. It its important
to do this because the receiver usually throws away the envelope. So, the receiver will
always have your address and will be able to reply to you
2. Write the date on which you are writing your letter on the lef hand side of the letter
3. Write your greeting under the date. It is acceptable to be informal, such as Dear, Hi or
Hello
4. Write the content of your letter after the date. Write anything you would like the
receiver need to know and to read
5. End your letter by signing off and say “your friend”, “big hug”, “cheers”, “see you” or
just as simple “from”
6. Sign or write your name under the sign off
7. Occasionally, you need to add an extra message in you letter, you can use a postscript.
This is written underneath your name at the bottom of your letter.

In Paris

Hello Aurora, How are you today? Hopefully you are fine. It's been a while since you left
me here alone, huhuhu so sad. My family and I here are missing you a lot.
How is Paris? I guess it's very beautiful. Winter is coming soon right? Ah, I really want to
know how the winter is. But, most Importantly, please wear warm outfits and don't get sick.
And how about your college life? Is it run smoothly as you expected. I guess you will be
the best in the class because you are the smartest one haha. Oh, By the way I will be starting
my study in January. I'm very excited about it, because it is the first college class. I take English
Education as my majority.
Okay, I think that's all for now. I want to hear everything about your new life in Paris.

As you know, Frank and I have been colleagues and friends for the past eight years. His
tragic loss leave a terrible void in our office. He was so well-liked and respected by everyone
who came into contact with him, both colleagues and clients alike. He had tremendous people
skills, and such as, was a role model in our company and the industry at large.
