Background: decrease in near visual acuity not only disrupts patient productivity and
mobility, but also causes socio-economic impacts on the environment, family, community and
country. A sharp decrease in near vision can be caused by refractive abnormalities, visual media
abnormalities, impaired visual nerve function, and close-range activity. This study aims to
describe the decrease in near vision in the 1A-1B level health analyst students at STIKes Bakti
Tunas Husada Tasikmalaya.
Method: This research was conducted in quantitative descriptive. By collecting data using
questionnaires and examining near visual acuity. The study sample was 50A level 1A-1B health
analyst students at the STIKes Bakti Tunas Husada Tasikmalaya.
Result: The results showed a decrease in visual acuity of 1A-1B level health analyst students
at STIKes Bakti Tunas Husada Tasikmalaya based on examination of near visual acuity. The
results showed that most of the students had normal near visual acuity of 32 students (64%), while
abnormal near vision 18 students (36%). Based on the respondent's sex at most, there were 35
female students (70%), while 15 students (30%) were male. And based on close-range activities
using a respondent microscope, at most abnormal near-sight sharpness was in the third 10
minutes as many as 8 students (16%), while normal near-sighted sharpness was 5 students (10%).
Conclusion: There was a decrease in near visual acuity in the third 10 minutes while
practicing, resulting in a decrease of 8 people in near vision (16%).
