Speaker’s meaning terdiri dari dua junis makna; makna abstrak dan
makna ujaran. Makna abstrak terkait dengan makna sintaksis, yaitu makna
yang terkandung, misalnya, dalam suatu kalimat. Makna ujaran terkait
dengan makna (force) yang terkandung dalam suatu ujaran, dan untuk
memahami force harus dilihat kontek ujaran tersebut. Disamping itu,
memahami force juga bisa dilakukan dengan menganalisis unsur-unsur
paralinguistiks dan non-linguistiks yang mengitari ujaran.
Implied meaning, sebaliknya tidak tergantung hanya pada unsur
leksikal atau sintaksis saja, tetapi tergantung pada konteks ujaran, yang
mencakup apa, pada siapa, dimana, bila, jalur, mode dan lain sebagainya.
Tanpa memahami unsur-unsur tersebut, apa yang ingin disampaikan
pembicara kepada si pendengar mungkin tidak akan dipahami si pendengar.

Deixis = referent is located using the current speech event (particularly the
time of speaking) or one or more of its participants (particularly,
but not exclusively, the speaker) as referent points.

Fungsi deiksis temporal adalah untuk menentukan titik atau interval pada
the time axis dengan menggunakan saat berujar sebagai titik referensi.
Karena itu, ada tiga bagian the time axis:
Deiktik temporal sangat tergantung pada nosi kalender, meliputi jam dan
kalender. Istilah hari ini, kemaren, dan besok merujuk pada masa 24 jam
mulai jam 12.00 tengah malam, termasuk saat ketika bicara, masa 24 jam
sebelum hari dan saat bicara, dan masa 24 jam setelah hari dan saat saat

has been able to describe the man who attacked her as follows:
