Reading Text “Rapunzel“
Once upon a time, there Orientation

your hair!” he tried and climbed
up into her room. She was stunned
to see the prince. She had never
before seen anybody so handsome.
The prince too fell in love with
her. They began to secretly meet
every day after the witch left.
One day however, the
witch realized what has been
going on. She screamed and
shouted in anger. She cut off her
hair and send her off deep into the
forest. That day, when the prince
came, he found the witch waiting
for him at the top of the tower.
She cursed and screamed some
more, before casting a spell on
him, that make the prince lost his
sight. The prince, now blind and
broken hearted, wandered through
the forest.
Many days later,
Rapunzel found him wounded
among the trees. She began to cry
at the sorry sight of her prince. But

Dalam text narrative selalu menggunakan bentuk past tense,
berikut penjelasan bentuk past tense:

1. Simple Past Tense


The ‘simple past tense’ is used to tell actions or situations in the
past. In Unit 1 you learned the ‘simple past tense’ used in positive and
negative sentences. In this unit you learn the ‘simple past tense’ in
interrogative sentences. Here are the patterns.

a. Verbal Sentence.

S + V2 + O (positive sentence)

S + did + not + V1 + O (negative sentence)

Did + S + V1 + O (interrogative sentence)

Example:
 Donita went to Jakarta yesterday.
 Iman walked alone last night.

b. Nominal Sentence.

S + to be (was/were) + adj/adv/N (positive sentence)

S + was/ were + not + adj/adv/N (negative sentence)


Was/ were + S + adj/adv/N (interrogative sentence)

Example:
 Rani was here last month.
 Bani was not in Jakarta yesterday.

VII. Langkah-langkah Kegiatan Pembelajaran


a. Kegiatan Awal
 Berdoa sebelum membuka pelajaran (religius)
 Absensi (disiplin, tanggung jawab, rasa ingin tahu)
 Menyiapkan peserta didik secara psikis dan fisik untuk
mengikuti proses pembelajaran;
 Mengajukan pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang akan berkaitan
dengan narrative teks.
 Menjelaskan tentang narrative teks

b. Kegiatan Inti
Eksplorasi
 Guru memberikan stimulus berupa pemberian materi Tesk
narrative dan siswa menyimak.
 Guru membagikan contoh Narrative Teks dan menunjuk
beberapa orang siswa untuk membaca

Elaborasi
 Memfasilitasi siswa melalui pemberian tugas mengerjakan
latihan soal yang ada pada buku ajar Bahasa Inggris untuk
dikerjakan secara individual.

Konfirmasi
 Memberikan umpan balik pada siswa dengan memberi
penguatan dalam bentuk lisan pada siswa yang telah dapat
menyelesaikan tugasnya.
 Tanya jawab berhubungan dengan materi yang diajarkan.

c. Kegiatan Akhir
 Guru dan Siswa menyimpulkan materi yang diajarkan.
 Siswa diberikan pekerjaan rumah (PR) berkaitan dengan
materi Tesk narrative.

Read the text and answer the question below!

Once upon a time there lived as neighbors, a bear and a rabbit. The
rabbit was a good shot, and the bear being very clumsy could not use the
arrow to good advantage. The bear was very unkind to the rabbit.
Every morning, the bear would call over to the rabbit and ask the
rabbit to take his bow and arrows and came with the bear to the other side of
the hill. The rabbit, fearing to arouse the bear’s anger by refusing, consented,
and went with the bear and shot enough buffalo to satisfy the hungry family.
Indeed, he shot and kill so many that there was lots of meat left after the bear
and his family had loaded themselves, packed all they could carry home. The
bear was very gluttonous, and did not want the rabbit to get any of the meat so
the poor rabbit could not even taste the blood from the butchering, as the bear
would throw earth on the blood and dry it up. Poor Rabbit would have to go
hungry after his hard day’s work.
The bear was the father of five children. The youngest boy was very
kind to the rabbit. The mother bear, knowing that the youngest was very
hearty eater, always gave him an extra large piece of meat. What the baby bear
did not eat, he would take outside with him and pretend to play food ball with
it, kicking it toward the rabbit’s house, and when he got close to the door he
would give the meat such a good kick, that it would fly into the rabbit’s house,
and in this way poor Rabbit would get his meal unknown to the papa bear.
