A. Tujuan Pembelajaran
1. Elemen membaca-memirsa
a. Peserta didik membaca dan merespon teks deskripsi yang mengandung struktur yang
telah dipelajari dan kosakata yang familiar secara mandiri;
b. Peserta didik mengidentifikasi tujuan teks deskripsi dan mulai melakukan inferensi
untuk memahami informasi tersirat dalam sebuah teks dengan baik;
c. Peserta didik mencari dan mengevaluasi ide utama dan informasi spesifik dalam
berbagai jenis teks secara mandiri.
2. Elemen menulis-mempresentasikan
Peserta didik mengomunikasikan ide dan pengalaman mereka melalui paragraf sederhana
dan terstruktur, menunjukkan perkembangan dalam penggunaan kosa kata spesifik dan
struktur kalimat sederhana dengan menggunakan kata-katanya sendiri.

B. Langkah-langkah Kegiatan
Sebelum mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran, sebaiknya kamu siapkan kamus dan beberapa alat
tulis-menulis, antara lain pensil, penghapus, fulpen/balpoin, bukutulis, dan penggaris.

1. Kegiatan I
Pertama, marilah kita berdoa, ”Ya Allah tambahkanlah kepadaku ilmu pengetahuan dan
berikanlah kepadaku kepahaman. Aamiin.”
Puji syukur ke hadirat Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa atas segala kuasa-Nya sehingga kita hari
ini masih belajar lagi dalam keadaan sehat.
Pertemuan yang lalu kita telah belajar apa? Masih ingatkan. Ya, kita belajar tentang
greeting and leave taking. Untuk greting (sapaan) kita biasa menggunakan good morning,
good afternoon, and good evening. Dan untuk leave taking kita gunakan good night, good bye,
bye, etc.
In this meeting, we will learn about descriptive text. (Pada pertemuan kali ini kita akan
belajar tentang teks deskripsi). Pernahkan kalian belajar teks deskripsi sebelumnya. Menurut
kalian; apa definisi (definition of) dari teks deskripsi?, bagaimana teks tersebut disusun
(generic structure), apa tujuan dari penulisan (purpose) teks deskripsi ?, dan apa saja unsur/
ciri kebahasaan kebahasaan (language feature) dari teks deskripsi? Untuk menjawab itu semua
mari kita baca hal-hal berikut dengan seksama.

Descriptive Text
Definition, Generic Structures, Purposes, Language Features

Definition (definisi) Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person, place, or a
thing is like.

Generic Structure When writing descriptive text, there are some generic structures
(Bagaimana Teks (actually not mandatory) for our writing to be true.

The arrangement is:
1. Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person,
place, animal or object will be described.)
2. Description: contains a description of something such as
animal, things, place or person by describing its features,
forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describe.

Purpose The purpose (tujuan) of the descriptive text is clear, that is to

describe (mendiskripsikan), represent (mempresentasikan) or
reveal a person or an object, either (baik) abstract or concrete in
specific.

Language Feature
1. Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and
unique (only one). for example: Bandengan beach, my house,
Borobudur temple, uncle Jim
2. The use of the adjective (an adjective_kata sifat) to clarify the
noun, for example: a beautiful beach, a handsome man, the
 famous place in Jepara, etc.
3. The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is
simple present because it tells the fact of the object described.
4. Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example, run,
sleep, walk, cut etc….

Dari keterangan tersebut di atas kita mengetahui bahwa descriptive text adalah teks yang
menceritakan bagaimana seseorang, tempat atau benda digambarkan. Teks tersebut terdiri dari
dari dua susunan yaitu identifikasi (hal yang ingin dideskripsikan) dan deskripsi (gambaran
rinci dari teks). Tujuannya adalah untuk menggambarkan orang , tempat, atau benda itu secara
khusus. Sedangkan unsur kebahasaannya terdiri dari; (a) hal tertentu_Bandengan beach, my
house, Borobudur temple, uncle Jim, (b) menggunakan kata sifat, (c) menggunakan simple
present tense (kata kerja bentuk pertama), dan (d) kata kerja tindakan. Semoga keterangan
tersebut di atas bisa menambah pengetahuan kalian tentang descriptive text.

2. Kegiatan II
Untuk lebih memahami descriptive text dari segi the generic structure (bagaimana teks
disusun), the purpose of writing the text (tujuan dituliskannya teks), language feature of
the text (ciri-ciri/ unsur kebahasaan teks) marilah kita membaca teks berikut:

My Name is Rizka Faidah Utami. My nickname is Kaka. I was born in Batu, on the 7th of
April, 2008. So, I am 13 years old now. I live at Jl. Semeru no.4 Batu. My father’s name is
Pak Amir. He is a farmer. He is a hard worker. My mother’s name is Bu Darwati. She is a
teacher. She is very beautiful. I study at SMPN 3 Batu. I am in seventh grade A. I think,
I'm tall enough, because my height is 160 cm. My weight is 45 kg. I have short and black
hair, I have black eyes, round face, and flat nose. My hobby is reading some books. I want
to be a doctor in the future.

Bacalah teks tersebut berulang kali dengan keras dan pahamilah isinya dengan baik.
Kemudian lakukan hal berikut ini:
a. Tulislah kembali teks tersebut di atas yang berjudul Rizka Faidah Utami menggunakan
tulisan tangan dengan baik dan rapi;
b. Berikan warna hijau pada setiap adjective (kata sifat) dengan menggunakan stabilo/
pewarna dan sebagainya. Tentunya kalian sudah mengetahui bukan tentang kata sifat.
