Surat adalah berita atau informasi yang tertulis di atas kertas yang dikirim oleh seseorang atau pihak
tertentu kepada orang lain atau pihak lain. Surat resmi menggunakan bahasa indonesia baku, kata
dan kalimat menggunakan harus singkat, padat, dan jelas. Formatnya pun harus mengacu pada
bentuk yang telah berlaku secara umum.

Soal 2
There are 3 (three) errors in the letter above. They are:

1. Avoid using abbreviations. For example "u" in "Thank u for your letter...".

2. Use capital letters in words that indicate the name of the month. For example "july" in "...4 july...".

3. Declarative sentence ends with a punctuation mark. For example "?" in "...and terms of
payment?".

 Pembahasan

Surat di atas merupakan jenis formal letter atau surat resmi karena dikirimkan dari seseorang
kepada perusahaan mengenai konfirmasi pengiriman katalog.

 Berikut ini adalah arti 3 (tiga) kesalahan pada surat tersebut :

1. Hindari penggunaan singkatan. Misalnya "u" dalam "Thank u for your letter..."

2. Gunakan huruf kapital dalam kata-kata yang menunjukkan nama bulan. Misalnya "july" di "...4
july...".

3. Kalimat deklaratif diakhiri dengan tanda baca titik. Sebagai contoh "?" dalam "...and terms of
payment?".
