Pengertian :
Menurut WHO Bidan adalah seseorang yang telah diakui secara reguler dalam program
pendidikan kebidanan sebagaimana yang diakui yuridis, dimana ia ditempatkan dan telah
menyelesaikan pendidikan kebidanan dan telah mendapatkan kualifikasi serta terdaftar
disahkan dan mendapatkan ijin melaksanakan praktik kebidanan.

MIDWIFE
Definition :
According to WHO, a midwife is someone who has been regularly recognized in the program
midwifery education as legally recognized, where it is placed and has been completed
midwifery education and have obtained qualifications and registered approved and obtained
permission to practice midwifery.
Midwifw job :
a. Independent task
1. establish midwifery management in every midwifery care provided
2. Providing pre-marital services to teenagers and by involving them as clients
3. Provide midwifery care to clients during normal pregnancy
4. Provide midwifery care to clients during labor by involving the client or family
5. Provide midwifery care for newborns
6. Provide midwifery care to clients during the puerperium by involving the client or
family
7. Provide midwifery care for women with reproductive system disorders and women
in the climacteric and menopause period
8. Provide midwifery care to women of childbearing age who need family planning
services
9. Provide midwifery care for infants and toddlers by involving the family
b. Collaborative tasks
1. Implement midwifery management in every midwifery care according to the
collaboration function by involving clients and families
2. Provide midwifery care to pregnant women with high risk and assistance in
emergencies that require collaborative action
3. Provide midwifery care to mothers during labor with high risk and emergency
situations that require first aid with collaborative actions with client and family
actions
4. Provide midwifery care to mothers in the puerperium with high risk and first aid in
emergencies that require collaborative action with clients and families

Midwife Function :
a. Executing Function
1. Provide guidance and counseling to individuals, families, and communities
(especially teenagers) during the pre-marital period.
2. Performing midwifery care for normal pregnancies, pregnancies with certain
pathological cases, and pregnancies with high risk.
3. Assist normal delivery and certain pathological cases of delivery.
4. Caring for babies immediately after normal birth and babies with high risk.
5. Performing midwifery care for postpartum mothers.
6. Maintaining maternal health during breastfeeding.
7. Providing health services for toddlers and preschoolers
8. Provide family planning services in accordance with their authority.
9. Provide guidance and health services for cases of reproductive system disorders,
including women during the internal climacterium and menopause in accordance
with their authority.
b. Manager Function
1. Develop the concept of midwifery service activities for individuals, families,
community groups, according to the conditions and needs of the local community
supported by community participation.
2. Develop a plan for the implementation of midwifery services within the work unit.
3. Leading the coordination of midwifery service activities.
4. Conduct inter and intersectoral collaboration and communication related to
midwifery services
5. Leading the evaluation of the results of the activities of the team or midwifery
service unit.
c. Educator Function
1. Provide counseling to individuals, families, and community groups related to
midwifery services in the scope of health and family planning.
2. Guiding and training traditional birth attendants and health cadres in accordance
with the midwife's area of responsibility.
3. Provide guidance to midwives in practical activities in the clinic and in the
community.
4. Educate midwives or other health workers according to their field of expertise.
d. Researcher Function
1. Conduct evaluations, assessments, surveys, and research conducted alone or in
groups within the scope of midwifery services.
2. Conduct research on family health and family planning.
