Pre-lesson 1. Review new or difficult vocabulary from the previous lesson.
2. Play game TRUE/FALSE. This game allows ppls to hear and physically
respond to the sentences in the target language. A) write big TRUE at the
top of the board and big FALSE at the bottom. B) Read out true/false
sentences about previous topic. – If the sentences is true, the ppls say
TRUE and clap their hands. If it FALSE, they say false and put their hands
over their eyes.
3. Activity 2- to focus on spelling. Ppls look and find words in the picture.
Lesson Delivery Write four words for each category. Ppls write out in their notebook.
4. Activity 3, ppls work in pairs and write true/false sentences about the
picture. One ppl read out loud the sentences and the other answer
true/false. Ppls write their statements in their notebooks.
5. Pairs join another pair. Pupils read the other pair’s statements and
decide which are true and which are false. They explain their answer to
the other pair.

6. On the board, teacher writes one or two sentences pupils made mistakes in. Ask

Pre-lesson
1. Ask pupils to read the Anthology of Poem page 6.
2. Elicit the title of poem. (HOTS)
Lesson delivery
3. Put up the pictures from the poem on the board (see next page).
4. Ask pupils to talk about the pictures. Suggested questions to stimulate discussion: (HOTS)
5. What animal can you see in this picture?
6. What is the boy doing here?
7. Divide pupils into 7 groups.
ACTIVITIES
8. Each group will be given a stanza on a piece of manila card/A3 paper.
9. A representative from each group will come in front of the class and match their stanza to
the correct picture on the board. (21ST CA)
10. The group members will then recite their stanza in front of the class.
11. The whole class will recite the whole poem together with the correct intonation and
pronunciation after all the groups have put up their stanzas on the board.
12. Pupils recite the poem again with movement and actions. (CBA)
Post-lesson
13. Have pupils show a smiley face to represent their feelings of the lesson.

1. Pupils look at the pictures around the poem and talk about them.

2. Pupils guess what the poem is about.
3. Recite the poem and pupils repeat after.
4. Pupils do the gestures as they recite the poem e.g. jumping, kicking, thirsty, sticky
5. Elicit from the pupils on who they can relate to best: Jumping John, Kicking Kirsty, Mad
Mickey or Fat Fred.

6. Demonstrate how to perform a jazz chant for the first stanza.
7. Help pupils to identify the stress and rhythm by clapping hands or snapping fingers in
