ABSTRACT
The success of a learning activity can be seen from the student’s cognitive skills.
Low student cognitive skills require teachers to create more effective learning,
one way that can be done is the use of innovative learning models and learning
media that teachers can apply to help students gain knowledge. The study aims to
describe the impact of the two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) padlet-assisted learning
model on students’ cognitive skills on cell structure and function material. The
research was conducted at one of the public high schools in Bandung with a
quantitative approach to designing semu experiments (quasi experimental design)
with non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted
of 62 students selected through simple random sampling techniques. Students’
cognitive abilities were measured through learning results tests based on Bloom
taxonomy in the form of a double-choice question of 20 subjects. Data analysis
techniques in the testing of hypotheses using the Man Whitney test. The results of
the study showed that learning the biology of material structure and function of
cells through the TSTS (Two Stay Two Stray) model helped padlets better
compared to learning the biological materials structure and cell function through
the cooperative model assisted power point media. This was demonstrated by the
average posttest score in the experimental class of 86.9 larger compared to the
control class that had a posttest average of 77.5. Students’ cognitive skills in the
classroom by using the TSTS-type cooperative model helped padlets increased by
N-gain of 0.71 with the category “Higher”. The statistical results of the Man
Whitney test using SPSS version 26 obtained an Asymp.Sig value.(2-tailed) 0,000
< Table(α=0,05), then H0 was rejected and Ha received, it can be understood
that there is a significant influence on the cognitive skills of students after
applying the cooperative learning model type TSTS assisted padlet. The increased
cognitive skills of students are supported by the use of padlet apps. The padlet is
used to present the material structure and function of the cell in more detail
making it easier for students to obtain information about the material becomes
easier because in addition to presenting the material through text presented also
images and videos about the materials discussed. The simple, easy-to-use
appearance of the padlet platform and its varied features make the learning
process more attractive and increase student learning motivation. Students’
response to learning cell structure and function through TSTS-type cooperative
learning models helped padlets gain an average percentage of 85% with good
categories. Learning through a TSTS-type cooperative model with the help of
padlet media makes students feel happy, interested, and motivated to follow each
stage of learning well.
