KATA PENGANTAR

Terima kasih atas kepercayaan yang telah diberikan PT. Abadi Prima Inti Karya
kepada PT. Reckat Composites Delmim untuk membangun Instalasi Pengolahan Air
Limbah Domestik (IPAL) dengan kapasitas 20 m / hari di Rusun UGM, Yogyakarta.

Buku ini disusun untuk dijadikan petunjuk dan dasar kerja operator dalam
mengoprasikan dan memelihara IPAL/STP yang ada di Rusun UGM, Yogyakarta
tersebut.

Mudah-mudahan bukuini dapat membantu para operator Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
agar dapat lebih memahami sistem kerja STP sehingga hasil air olahan akan selalu dapat
memenuhi bakumutu lingkungan yang ada.

BAB I
PENDAHULUAN

Sistem Pengolahan Air Limbah (Sewage Treatment Plant/STP) ini khusus didesain untuk
mengolah air limbah yang dibuang oleh Rusun UGM, Yogyakarta ini didesain
berdasarkan kapasitas air limbah buangan sebesar 20 m / hari.
`
Fungsi dariunit STP ini adalah melakukan proses pengolahan untuk mengurangi
parameter-parameter pencemar dalam air limbah sehingga air hasil olahannya aman
untuk dibuang ke saluran umum (drainase).

Metode pengolahan air limbah pada sistem ini adalah pengolahan secara biologis dengan
menggunakan bakteri yang ditumbuhkan pada media Honeycomb (pada kondisi an-
aerob)dan Bioball (pada kondisi aerob) dimana bakteri-bakteri yang terkandung di dalam
air limbah dapat berkembang biak dengan baik pada media, sesuai kondisi lingkungannya
dan melakukan proses dekomposisi/penguraian zat-zat pencemar secara optimal.

Unit STP ini didesain dengan System BioReckat dan beroperasi secara kontinyu / terus
menerus. Air Limbah Domestik ini, akan mengalami proses pengolahan hingga
memenuhi peraturanyang dipersyaratkan dan aman untuk dibuang ke dalam saluran
drainase perkotaan.

Buku Petunjuk ini digunakan sebagai buku panduan bagi operator untuk mengoperasikan
dan memelihara IPAL agar sesuai dengan prosedur sehingga sistem dapat bekerja secara
optimal.

BAB II
PROSES

Sistem ini terdiri dari Separation Tank, Anaerob Tank, Aeration Tank, Sedimentation
Tank, Effluent Tank dan Blower Room lengkap dengan berbagai aksesoris, dengan uraian
penjelasannya sebagai berikut:

2.1 Separation Tank


Merupakan komponen pertama STP yang berfungsi meratakan aliran dan beban
limbah. Terjadi proses pencampuran (mixing) antara limbah baru dan lumpur
aktif, yang ditransfer oleh Airlift dari Sedimentation Tank, sehingga air limbah
akan mempunyai debit dan kualitas beban limbah yang seragam. Pada proses
tersebut akan menghasilkan endapan lumpur aktif yang tidak terpakai lagi
sehingga secara periodik harus dibuang menggunakan mobil tinja.

2.2 An-Aerob Tank


Di dalam bak anaerob terjadi proses penguraian air limbah oleh bakteri-bakteri
anaerob, yang menempel pada media dan yang tercampur pada air limbah sifat
bakteri tersebut adalah lebih tahan terhadap bahan-bahan kimia pembersih yang
bersifat racun. Unit ini sangat berperan penting karena bakteri pada tahap ini akan
mengurangi kandungan senyawa pencemar organic dengan signifikan, sehingga
harus benar-benar dijaga. Kemudian air limbah akan mengalir menuju Aeration
Tank.

2.3 Aeration Tank


Merupakan komponen utama dalam sistem pengolahan air limbah, pada bagian
ini terjadi penguraian zat-zat pencemar (senyawaorganik) secara aerob (dengan
udara). Di dalam Aeration Tank ini, air limbah dihembus dengan oksigen,
sehingga mikroorganisme aerob pada air limbah dan yang menempel di media
akan menguraikan zat organik yang ada dalam air limbah. Energi yang diperoleh
dari hasil penguraian zat organik tersebut akan dipergunakan oleh
mikroorganisme untuk proses pertumbuhannya. Dengan demikian akan tumbuh
dan berkembang biomasa dalam jumlah besar, yang akan menguraikan senyawa
polutan yang ada di dalam air limbah. Untuk suplai udara menggunakan Air

Blower dan Diffuser, yang berfungsi menciptakan gelembung-gelembung udara
halus (fine bubble) agar proses penyerapan oksigen oleh mikroorganisme dapat
lebih optimal.

2.4 Sedimentation Tank


Sistem ini digunakan untuk mengendapkan partikel-partikel floc (activated
sludge/Lumpur aktif) yang terlepas dari dalam Aeration tank. Sebagian lumpur
aktif akan dikembalikan kedalam Separation Tank melalui Airlift System. Airlift
System yang dipasang pada rangka ini dimaksudkan mengembalikan sebagian
besar lumpur mengendap untuk diolah kembali. Airlift menggunakan tenaga udara
yang berasal dari Air Blower. Pengembalian lumpur aktif harus kontinyu (terus
menerus) agar proses pengolahan berhasil dengan baik. Dalam Sedimentation
Tank terjadi pengendapan lumpur aktif, sedangkan air limbah yang sudah diolah
(lebih jernih) mengalir secara over flow melalui gutter masuk kedalam Effluent
Tank.

2.5 Effluent Tank


Air olahan yang berasal dari proses pengendapan, terlebih dahulu harus di
injeksikan kaporit/chlorine untuk membunuh bakteri-bakteri patogen sebelum
dibuang kesaluran drainase. Tablet chlorine harus diberikan secara berkala
dengan cara membuka tutup pipa klorinasi dan memasukkan beberapa butir tablet
Chlorine dan kemudian menutupnya kembali. Di dalam Effluent Tank ini juga
dilengkapi dengan Submersible pump/pompa celup yang berfungsi untuk
memompa/membuang air kesaluran drainase kota. Pompa bekerja secara
kontinyu/terus menerus dan otomatis. Jika level air pada Effluent Tank mencapai
ketinggian tertentu, maka pompa secara otomatis akan menyala dan memompa air
kesaluran drainase.

2.6 Blower Room


Merupakan ruang control sistem STP, dimana Air Blower dan Control Panel
berada disini. Setiap hari, operator STP harus masuk keruang ini untuk memantau
kinerja Air Blower serta pengecekan kelistrikan sistem STP.

5.2 Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) Pengoperasian

Unit pengolahan limbah ini dirancang dengan sistim pengoperasian otomatis. Dan
pengoperasiannya dikendalikan berdasarkan level air di dalam setiap bak-bak
penampungan. Meskipun sistim ini didesain secara otomatis, namun untuk
mengantisipasi terjadinya trouble, dalam pengoperasian dapat dilakukan secara manual,
agar sistim dapat terus berjalan dengan baik.

Tahapan yang harus dilakukan dalam pengoperasian ini, yaitu :

1. PERSIAPAN PENGOPERASIAN SISTEM


 Periksa saringan (Basket Screen) pada area Inlet dan Rotary Meter pada Outlet
Effluent supaya tidak terdapat kotoran yang menyangkut.
 Pastikan semua Chemical Tank telah berisi larutan kimia (kaporit / Chlorine).
 Pada panel kontrol, hidupkan semua Circuit Breaker.
 Aktifkan sistem kontrol dengan memutar Selector Switch ke arah ON.
 Pastikan semua lampu indikator telah menyala, yang berarti sistem siap
untuk dioperasikan.

2. Pengoperasian Sistem :
2.1.Pengoperasian Secara Otomatis
 Putar semua Selector Switch kearah “AUTO”.
 Untuk mematikan pengoperasian putar Selector Switch kearah “OFF”.

2.2. Pengoperasian Secara Manual


 Putar semuaSelector Switchkearah “MAN” (manual).
 Untuk pengoperasian secara manual putar selector switch kearah “MAN”
(manual)
 Tekan push button “ON” untuk menghidupkan pompa dan untuk mematikannya
tekan push button “OFF”
 Untuk mematikan proses kembalikan Selector Switch ke posisi OFF

Catatan :

Sebelum mengoperasikan instalasi pengolahan air limbah ( IPAL ). Operator


bertanggung jawab penuh atas instalasi, harus mengorganisir dan menginstruksikan
tindakan–tindakan yang tepat dan bertanggung jawab atas pengoperasian instalasi
tersebut dan juga untuk meminimalisir kejadian yang tak terduga.

BAB VI
PEMELIHARAAN

6.1 Umum

1. Pencegahan kebakaran yang disebabkan oleh steker dan lain-lain :


 Periksa tidak ada debu di atas colokan dan tidak ada komponen yang longgar atau
lepas.
 Debu atau sambungan yang longgar dapat menyebabkan hubungan pendek,
sengatan listrik dan kebakaran.

2. Periksa hal-hal dibawah ini setelah pekerjaan pemeliharaan :


 Pintu panel ditinggal dalam posisi terkunci.
 Tenaga listrik telah dinyalakan kembali.
 Tidak ada yang tertinggal disekitar blower atau control panel.

3. Periode Pemeriksaan
 Pemeriksaan pertama dilakukan sebelum pengoperasian dimulai, pada saat test
dan commissioning.
 Pemeriksaan selanjutnya sebaiknya dilakukan setiap bulan sekali.
 Periksa tablet chlorine dalam pipa klorinasi dan masukkan tablet chlorine jika
diperlukan setiap 1 minggu sekali.
 Periksa waktu penyedotan sludge, lakukan penyedotan jika memang diperlukan,
diperkirakan setiap 2 tahun sekali.

4. Lakukan pekerjaan operasional dan pemeliharaan sesuai dengan peraturan termasuk


standard teknis pemeliharaan dan pembersihan.

BAB VIII
Sistem Operasional Prosedur (SOP) Tanggap Darurat

1. Apabila hasil analisa air limbah melebihi standard Baku Mutu :


 Periksa air limbah influent yang masuk ke IPAL. Lakukan penanganan sesuai
penyimpangan yang ditemukan.
 Periksa proses yang berlangsung di IPAL. Lakukan penanganan sesuai penyimpangan
yang ditemukan.
 Periksa seluruh mesin dan peralatan IPAL. Lakukan penanganan sesuai penyimpangan
yang ditemukan.
 Melakukan penutupan outlet saluran IPAL
 Melakukan penghentian sementara proses produksi

2. Apabila aliran listrik utama di IPAL pada melebihi dari 2 (dua) jam. Hidupkan genset
Gedung, hal ini untuk mencegah bakteri Aerob kolaps/mati karena tidak ada supply
oksigen. Apabila dalam 24 jam listrik masih dalam kondisi padam penambahan bakteri
starter Aerob harus dilakukan.

3. Apabila terjadi kebocoran/keretakan bak atau kolam IPAL (akibat gempa bumi tau hal
lainnya). Proses IPAL dihentikan sementara. Selanjutnya melakukan pemeriksaan dan
perbaikan setelah kondisi dinilai aman.

4. Apabila terjadi kecelakaan tersebut ke kolam/bak IPAL maka diberi pertolongan pertama di
tempat kejadian. Selanjutnya segera dibawa ke klinik/rumah sakit terdekat untuk
mendapatkan pertolongan medis lanjutan.

5. Apabila terjadi permasalahan pada equipment yang menyebabkan banjir pada IPAL dan
tercampurnya seluruh air limbah pada sistem. Hal ini menyebabka matinya bakteri, baik
aerob atau anaerob. Proses IPAL harus dihentikan dan dilakukan pengurasan pada setiap
bak STP serta penambahan bakteri starter ketika limbah sudah masuk STP.

6. Khusus Rumah Sakit apabila IPAL memiliki sumber air limbah yang berasal dari
Laboratorium dan mengandung bahan kimia atau reagen harus melalui bak Neutralizing
sebelum masuk IPAL. Karena apabila senyawa kimia masuk kedalam STP maka bakteri
Anaerob dan Aerob mati karna terpapar senyawa/bahan kimia laboratorium, selain itu
minimalisir tersebarnya senyawa kimia ke badan air. Apabila senyawa kimia tersebut
masuk ke dalam IPAL maka harus dilakukan pengursan.

For Installers
Installation

• CAUTION
 The pump should be installed in a well ventilated place and away from direct sunlight
preferably undercover.
 Install the pump in a place which has neither direct rain water splashing nor water
immersion.
 Do not install the pump at the place which is under the kitchen fan or possible to take air
including oil into the pump.
 Avoid installing the pump in a bedroom or other places where noises may be a
nuisance.
 Install the pump in a place that provides easy access for inspection and maintenance.

• WARNING
 All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician.
 Do not place any object on the power cord.
Neglecting this note may cause electric shock and/or fire.

• CAUTION
 Install the pump unit close to an aeration tank preferably within 5 meters. Pipe work
should be with minimum bends.
 Install the pump in a place where is apart from the building wall by over 20cm using a
concrete base so as not to transfer the vibration.
 Make sure the concrete base is level.
 Connect the pump and the pipe by a rubber tube tighten by a pinch cock.
 Insert the power plug firmly into the power point. Pulling out a plug by the cable may
damage the cable.
 The pump must be connected to a grounded, metallic, permanent wiring system, or an
equipment-grounding terminal or lead on the product.

Test Operation

• CAUTION
 The unit must be filled with water up to the prescribed line before turning on the pump.
 Make sure the unit is aerated properly.
 Make sure the pump is making no abnormal noise and vibration.
 Measure the working pressure between the unit and pump. The accepted value for the
pressure is ± 20% of the normal pressure which is specified on the blower name plate.
