Epidemiologi
Echinococcus multilocularis adalah kelompok cestoda yang tersebar luas di
beberapa bagian bumi utara.

E. multilocularis telah dilaporkan terdapat di sebagian besar Eurasia

tengah dan utara serta di Jepang. Jenis Cestoda ini juga tersebar luas di
benua Eropa dan Amerika Utara
 Morfologi

E. multilocularis is smaller (1.5-3.0 mm) than E. granulosus. The adult

parasite is a small tapeworm that is 3- 6mm long, and lives in the small
intestine of the definitive host (dogs and other canine host). A short neck
connects the head to three proglottids, the body segment of the worm
which contains the eggs to be excreted in the feces
 Gejala Klinis
E. multilocularis menyebabkan suatu keadaan patologis yang disebut
Alveolar Echinococcosis.

Pada keadaan patologis ini akan ditemukan Lesi primer dari E.

multilocularis di hampir seluruh bagian hepar . Namun perjalanannya
penyakitnya lambat.

Pada stadium awal biasanya asimptomatik sedangkan pada stadium

lanjutan biasanya ditemukan hepatomegali, nyeri epigastrik, Asites,
malnutrisi, ikterus dan tanda-tanda hepatic failure
Siklus Hidup
 TATALAKSANA

Di lakukan surgery untuk pengangkatan kista

Obat-obatan seperti albendazole dan mebendazole dengan pemberian
selama 3 bulan
Pada beberapa kasus (e.g., small inactive cysts in certain locations) hanya
dilakukan observasi secara berkala
Pada kasus alveolar echinococcosis berat, di lakukan transplantasi hepar
 Komplikasi
Obstructive jaundice: Blockage of bile flow out of the liver
Adrenal gland or kidney dysfunction
Small bowel obstruction
Gastric or intestinal perforation
Tumor-like bone lesions and fracture
 Prognosis
Umumnya baik bila dilakukan penanganan secara
cepat dan tepat. Namun bisa juga buruk,
tergantung diagnosis stadium dari alveolar
echinococcosis
