Pengertian Mutasi
▸ Mutasi merupakan perubahan organisasi materi
genetik yang berupa gen atau kromosom dari
suatu individu dan diwariskan kepada generasi
berikutnya.
▸ Mutasi pada sel-sel gamet bersifat menurun
▸ Jika terjadi pada sel somatic, tidak bersifat
menurun

Peristiwa terjadinya mutasi dinamakan
mutagenesis
Individu yang mengalaminya disebut
mutan
Faktor-factor yang menyebabkan
mutase disebut mutan

Mutagen: Bahan fisika, kimia, biologi

Macam-macam mutasi
Mutasi kecil (Mutasi gen)
Disebut juga mutasi gen
Perubahan yang terjadi pada
susunan molekul gen (DNA)
sedangkan lokus gennya tetap.
Mutasi besar (Mutasi
kromosom)
Disebut aberasi kromosom
Perubahan yang terjadi pada
struktur dan susunan kromosom

Berdasarkan faktor
penyebabnya:
Mutasi alamiah
(spontan)
Disebabkan oleh alam,
antara lain sinar radioaktif
dan sinar ultraviolet.
Mutasi induksi (buatan)
Disebabkan oleh usaha
manusia, al. penggunaan
bahan radioaktif, penggunaan
senjata nuklir dan reaktor
atom

Mutasi Gen
Adalah perubahan susunan kimia molekul DNA (perubahan
susunan/urutan basa nitrogen pada nukleotida)
Disebut juga mutase titik
Yang mengalami perubahan adalah mRNA
Perubahan susunan basa nitrogen pada triplet
Tidak terjadi perubahan lokus, bentuk, dan jumlah kromosom
