1. Reversible pulpitis = kondisi gigi yg msih vital,

2. Irreversible = kondisi pulpa yang mengalami rasa
sakit yg berlangsung lama ketika dilakukannya tes
vitalitas

1. Sistomaik = pulpa vital meradang, tidak mampu


Irreversible sembuh
2. Asimtomatik = tidak ada gejala meskipun kariesnya
pulpitis menembus pulpa

Pedoman Terapi Pulpa dari American Academy of Pediatric
Dentistry (AAPD; AAPD Referrence Manual, 2013-14) menyatakan
bahwa jenis perawatan pulpa bergantung pada apakah pulpa tersebut
vital atau nonvital.

Penilaian vitalitas pulpa didasarkan pada pencapaian salah satu dari


empat penilaian diagnostik klinis:
• Pulpa normal (yaitu, gigi dengan karies dangkal tetapi bebas gejala
dan akan merespons tes pulpa secara normal);
• Pulpitis reversibel (gigi dengan pulpa meradang yang dapat
disembuhkan);
• Pulpitis ireversibel yang bergejala atau tanpa gejala (pulpa yang
meradang tidak dapat disembuhkan);
• Pulpa nekrotik. (kematian jaringan pulpa)
Tanda dan gejala klinis
Diagnosis klinis pulpitis ireversibel dan/atau nekrosis adalah
gigi sulung yang memiliki salah satu atau lebih gejala
berikut:
1. pembengkakan saluran sinus atau gingiva yang tidak
berhubungan dengan penyakit periodontal
2. riwayat sakit gigi spontan tanpa sebab
3. mobilitas gigi berlebihan yang tidak berhubungan dengan
eksfoliation
4. furkasi/apical
5. resorpsi akar internal/eksternal
