ABSTRACT
The Frechet distribution is a part of Generalized Extreme Value (GEV)
distribution subfamily, which was first introduced by Maurice Frechet (1927). This distribution is typically used to determine the model of extreme events. The aim of this research is to estimate αand βparameters of Frechet distribution which is applied to the type I censored data for the maximum rainfall of Magelang, Sidoarjo 2001-2010. An implicit function obtained through the first derivative of the likelihood function for αand βparameters, based on Frechet distribution with maximum likelihood method for the type I censored data. Hence, the Newton-Raphson iteration scientifically supported by Matlab software 7.8.0 (R2009a). The assumed Frechet distributed estimation of αand β parameters of the maximum rainfall rate of Magelang brought forth, ranged as 10 ≤ α^ ≤11 as constant β assumption and ranged as 3.9 ≤ β^ ≤ 4.1 as constant α assumption.
