Ø Di Tunjukkan Contoh kalimat So / Such ... That ... untuk menyatakan dan menanyakan
tentang keterkaitan antara keadaan benda dengan pengaruhnya, sesuai dengan konteks
penggunaannya.
Pola kalimat:
Ø So + adj/adv + that
Ø Contoh kalimat: She is so beautiful that many boys like her.
Ø Such + noun + that
Ø Contoh kalimat: It is such a nice car that many people buy it.

Ø Fungsi sosial : Menjelaskan, memberi informasi, dsb.
c. Prinsip
Grammar:
So + adjective/adverb + that
I was so sleepy that I couldn't keep my eyes open.
Explanation:
Such … that is followed by a noun phrase (can be singular or plural).
For example, She is such a genius girl that she always wins a science olympiad.

such + (adjective) + NOUN + that
• Examples
Cause: It was a great movie.
Effect: I watched it several times.

Ø Menyimak dan menirukan percakapan
Ø Membaca dengan cermat untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur
kebahasaan percakapan tersebut.
Ø Bertanya dan mempertanyakan
Ø Membaca dengan cermat beberapa percakapan serupa dari sumber lain.

"Dia sangat cantik sehingga Mr. Fuad mencintainya."
So ... that
So digunakan ketika :
a) hanya ada satu kata diantara titik-titik dan that.
Karena penggunaan So adalah : So+adj/adverb+that. Sehingga apabila diantara titik-titik dan
that hanya ada satu kata, itu adalah adjective atau adverb. Sehingga harus kita jawab SO
Contoh : Purbalingga is SO wonderful THAT everyone wants to go there.
b) ada dua kata di antara titik-titik dan that sedangkan kata pertama adalah salah satu dari
many,much,few, dan little (determiner).
Karena penggunaan So adalah : So+determiner+noun+that. Sehingga apabila ada dua kata
diantara titik-titik dan that, sedangkan kata pertama adalah determiner, kita harus jawab SO.
Contoh : Mr. Nugroho has SO MANY birds THAT his house is so noisy.
b) ada dua kata di antara titik-titik dan that, sedangkan kata pertama bukan salah satu dari
many,much,few, dan little (determiner).
Karena penggunaan such adalah : Such+adverb/adjective+noun+that. Sehingga apabila
terdapat dua kata di antara titik-titik dan that, dan kata pertama bukan determiner, kata
pertama itu pastilah adjective/adverb. Sehingga kita harus jawab SUCH.
Contoh : Cheetah has SUCH long legs THAT It can run fast.
Noun sebelum that adalah Stomach yang merupakan noun tunggal, sehingga harus memakai
SUCH A.
Noun sebelum that adalah legs, yang merupakan noun jamak, sehingga harus memakai
SUCH.
• Dalam soal- soal seperti TOEFL, bentuk bab cause and result clause muncul dengan tipe
soal error identification dimana kita harus memilih salah satu yang salah dari berbagari
pilihan jawaban A, B, C, atau D. Dan untuk melatih kemampuan anda mengenali tipe soal
tersebut, berikut ini error examples dari penggunaan cause and result ; so and such.
Wrong : The doctor had too many patients that he could not see them all.
Right : The doctor had so many patients that he could not see them all.
Wrong : They had so a good meal at that restaurant that they wanted to go there again.
Right : They had so good meal at that restaurant that they wanted to go there again.
