h. KegiatanPembelajaran

a) Pendahuluan

Sebelum belajar pada materi ini silahkan kalian membaca dan memahami text
dibawah ini.

People today create a lot of waste from all the products they use. Much of this
waste is dumped in landfills or burned. Sometimes these methods pollute the
surronding air, soil and water.
The smell of waste distrubs anyone and if it is accumulated it can produce the
methane gas which can influnce the global warming. If we burn the waste, the air isn’t
fresh because of carbon of burning that can cause respiratory disease.
The unbiodegradable waste can pollute the soil such as plastic, tin and glass.
They can decrease the fertility of the soil and the quality of agricultural product. Even
too many plastic in the soil layer can make the low water absorbtion so the land will
dry and water soil deposit will be low.
Many people still throw the waste on the rivers and ocean as well. It brings
many dirts and danger chemical substances that destroy the quality of water and the
ecosystem. Some cases of waste polution on the rivers can cause the obstacle of water
flow so the impact is flood during rainy season.
From the explanation above every people must realize that it is the time of
managing the waste well now. It can be started from ourselves to put the the waste on
the proper places, to sort them based on their characteristic, to reduce, to reuse and to
recycle the waste.

1. Baca dan pahami materi pada Buku Pathway To English, Penerbit Erlangga ,Unit 9.
Cari juga materi di buku buku lain dan internet yang berkaitan dengan hortatory
exposition.
2. Setelah memahami isi materi dalam bacaan ,berlatihlah untuk berfikir tinggi melalui
tugas - tugas yang ada di BTP hal 155 sd 182
3. Ayo berlatih !!
 Mendengarkan teks lisan 2 atau 3 kali.
 Melengkapi paragraf paragraf dengan kata atau frasa sesuai dengan teks lisan
tsb.
 Memberi pernyataan betul atau salah berdasar teks lesan tsb

Apabila kalian telah mampu menyelesaikan persoalan di atas, maka kalian bisa
melanjutkan pada kegiatan ,belajar 2 berikut.

A clean and fresh city will surely make the city healthy and pleasant to live in.
Every morning, especially in the dry season, all (1)roads should be watered
and swept by the workers of the regional government under the mayor’s

Bad (3)habbits such as smoking and throwing rubbish anywhere, which
disadvantage many people and cause bad (4)smells dangerous diseases, should
be stopped at (5)once

comply with the regulations on cleanliness. For example, a person who doesn’t
smoke in a smoking-room or people who throw rubbish on the roads or in the

colourful flowers.

ANSWER:
Seeing the traffic situation in Indonesia, it can be concluded the law enforcers should
enforce the traffic rules. Look at the bold and reckless that motorcycle riders riding against the
flow, modifying the exhaust pipe to create noise. They always act as if they own the streets.

All this happened due to weak enforcement of the law on highways and inaction by the
authorities. The death toll on the streets has already greatly increased. If violations continue, it
will become a habit. Death on the roads is increasingly familiar on highways in Indonesia.

To reduce deaths from traffic accidents, I think the police should conduct traffic
operations twice a month. Law enforcement officers should ensure that traffic rules are obeyed
by road users. The national police should be in cooperation with local governments to conduct
public traffic education.

 Mulailah dengan menentukan ide pokok tiap paragraf , informasi/argumen apa
saja yang dituangkan di dalamnya, tambahkan connecting words dan
conjunction yang sesuai serta gunakan simple present tense.
 Kembangkan idemu dan tuangkan wawasanmu tentang tema tersebut sehingga
menjadi tulisan yang berbobot dan kreatif
 Konsultasikan kepada temanmu yang pandai dan guru Bahasa Inggris.
3. Tunjukkan kepada guru untuk dinilai.
4. Bersiaplah untuk mempresentasikan tulisan tsb dalam bentuk pidato pada kegiatan
yang akan datang.

Music is Fun for Learning English

Learning English through music and songs can be very enjoyable. You can mix
pleasure with learning when you listen to a song and exploit the song as a means to
your English progress. Some underlying reason can be drawn to support the idea
why we use songs in language learning.

Firstly, “the song stuck in my head” Phenomenon (the echoing in our minds of
the last song we heard after leaving a restaurant, shopping malls, etc) can be both
enjoyable and sometimes unnerving. This phenomenon also seems to reinforce the
idea that songs work on our short-and-long term memory.

Secondly, songs in general also use simple conversational language, with a lot of
repetition, which is just what many learners look for sample text. The fact that they
are effective makes them many times more motivating than other text. Although
usually simple, some songs can be quite complex but can be analyzed in the same
way as any other literary sample.

Furthermore, song can be appropriated by listener for their own purpose. Most
pop songs and probably many other types don’t have precise people, place or time
reference. In addition, songs are relaxing. They provide variety and fun, and
encourage harmony within oneself and within one group. Little wonder they are
important tools in sustaining culture, religion, patriotism and yeas, even revolution.
Last but not least, there are many learning activities we can do with songs such as
studying grammar, translating songs, learning vocabulary, spelling and culture.
From the elaboration before , it can be suggested that learning english through
music and songs can be enjoyable and fun.
