CONSTRUCTION SAFETY SYSTEM & PRACTICES
•  construction safety system is an integrated governing protocol of safety
planning, safety engineering, safety financing, safety assurance, safety control,
and safety organization within overall corporate business process and
construction project management for preventing any deficiencies, defects,
failures and occurrence of hazards within construction operational systems
leading to risk of incidents and/ or accidents causing near miss or damage to
people (workers), public, property and environment as well as undermining
business value (Suraji, 2019),
•  construction safety practices cover many aspects of work methods, human
actions, working equipment, building materials, workplaces, safety devices,
safety instructions, temporary support structure, training and supervision (Suraji,
2019),
SAFETY ENGINEERS IN CONSTRUCTION
SAFETY ENGINEERS IN CONSTRUCTION
•  Safety Engineers have duty and responsibility to make sure construction process and
workplace are safe from potential active and latent failure leading to incident and then
accident. They monitor the general work environment, inspect construction works and
machines for hazards and safety violations, and recommend safety features in new
processes and products.
•  Safety Engineers must evaluate plans or design for structures to assure that it is safe to
construct, to operate and to investigate any accidents to determine the fundamental
causes and how to prevent them from recurrent in the near future.
•  Safety Engineers also design special system and safety devices to protect workers,
public, property and environment from defect, failures, incident, accident and loss when
any construction, operation & maintenance and demolition works happening. They may
educate operatives and workers through safety campaigns or classes.
