Modul Intan (Interaktif Penuh Tantangan) sebagai modul untuk SMPN 2 Leuwigoong dapat
diterbitkan sesuai rencana.

Penerbitan Modul Intan (Interaktif Penuh Tantangan) Bahasa Inggris untuk kelas VII ini
diharapkan dapat menjadi materi suplemen bagi para peserta didik sehingga dapat
memperkaya sumber belajar dan pengalaman belajar. Modul ini dirancang untuk melatih
kemandirian peserta didik dalam memperoleh ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi sesuai prinsip
belajar mencari dan menemukan sendiri, sehingga peserta didik yang ada di SMPN 2
Leuwigoong semakin meningkat kualitasnya dan memiliki daya saing.

We start conversation with a greeting. Most we already use the common greetings like
“Hello” or “How are you?” However, there are more interesting salutations for different
situations.
1. Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening
Whether you speak with a teacher, friend or new neighbours, these phrases are effective
to start the conversation. The greetings change depending on the time of the day.
a. “Good morning” is generally used from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
b. “Good afternoon” is for a period from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

c. “Good evening” is often used after 6 p.m. or when the sun goes down.
d. “Good day/noon” is used in 12 a.m.
To transform “Good morning” into a casual greeting, you can say “Morning”.
Then, Good night is for leave taking someone at night or going to bed.

2. How do you do?


If you are looking for a very formal phrase for someone you meet for the first time, this
one will be the most suitable. You can still hear it from older people. For example: “Hello.
How do you do?” is a perfect solution for a business dinner or a formal event, e.g.
conference. The right response is “I’m well/fine/great/better than ever, etc”.

3. Nice to meet you / Pleased to meet you


This is one of the respectful greeting examples you can use replying to someone you
meet for the very first time, and When you have not seen a person for a while or meet
somebody unexpectedly, use one of these friendly greetings For example:
Alex : Good morning. I’m Alex from Papua.
Budi : Nice to meet you, Alex.

4. How have you been?


This is a polite way to ask “How are you?” when you have not seen a person for a long
time. For example:
Tanti : How have you been?
Panca : I’ve been busy working a lot. How about you?

5. How are you doing? /How is life?/ How’s everything?


People prefer to ask one with “How are you?” after the main greeting. But “How are you
doing” is same expression of asking condition. For instance:
• Aqilla : Hello, Jelang! How are you doing?
Jelang : I’m Fine, thanks.
• Yumna : Hi, Raja. How’s life?
Raja : Hi, Great! And you?
• Yumna : Not bad.

a. Thanking
When someone does something good for you, you must show your gratitude by thanking
him/her. It creates a closer relationship. Saying thank you has power. The expression below
shows you about thanking and how you answer/response.

b. Apologizing
The expression of apologizing like: “ Sorry / I’m sorry “ is used for a little mistakes and for a
big mistakes , you use: “ I apologize / I’m so sorry”, “I was wrong”. Then use the expression
of apologizing according to the mistake and to whom you do it.

a. The use of “A dan An”
For singular nouns, we use “a” in front of a noun with the consonant syllable and “an”
