Abstract: This study is about correlation between problem solving ability of students with
mathematical connections. Design research is correlational research. The entire sample at
the same time is the whole student population of mathematics education FKIP UIR first
semester, with a total of 118 students. The research instrument is a matter of testing the
ability of problem solving and mathematical connections. Analysis of data using linear
regression models prerequisite test, Pearson correlation coefficient test formula / Product
Moment, t test correlation coefficient, and the coefficient of determination. These results
indicate that there is a significant correlation between problem solving ability with
mathematical connection students. The correlation is negative. That is, the lower the
mathematical problem solving ability, the higher the mathematical connection capability,
or reverse.
