Abstract
Advertising is one way that is often used to introduce a product to the public.
In Malaysia, print media are often used to advertise local health products
from the 1970s to the present. An advertised product must be able to
influence people's thinking so that they give confidence to the product. Even
the many local health products advertised in Malaysia actually contain
important discourses to convey. The author finds that there are some
similarities used by local health product advertisers in Malaysia by using
Tami Sloane Thrasher's semiotic discourse analysis techniques. The
equation is the purpose, image, audience, and technique (metaphor,
etymology, stereotype) in attracting people to buy the advertised product.

periklanan Tami Sloane Thrasher.
