Jakarta Economy Continue to Rise in The Third Quarter of 2021
 Pemulihan ekonomi Jakarta terus berlanjut
pada triwulan III-2021. Kendati diterapkan
Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan
Masyarakat (PPKM), namun sejumlah
kegiatan tetap berjalan, terutama untuk
kegiatan sektor esensial, kritikal, dan
industri berorientasi ekspor. Selain itu,
kondisi ekonomi global yang membaik,
seiring dengan percepatan vaksinasi, turut
mengungkit pertumbuhan ekonomi melalui
peningkatan permintaan global.
Secara q-to-q, perekonomian Jakarta tumbuh
0,1 persen di tengah tekanan PPKM.
Menurut pengeluaran, pertumbuhan ini
didorong oleh meningkatnya kinerja ekspor
dan Pembentukan Modal Tetap Bruto
(PMTB). Sementara dari sisi lapangan usaha,
didorong oleh pertumbuhan Jasa Kesehatan,
Industri pengolahan dan Konstruksi.
Secara y-on-y, perekonomian Jakarta
tumbuh 2,43 persen. Dari sisi permintaan,
selain didorong oleh peningkatan konsumsi
domestik pada Pengeluaran Konsumsi
Rumah Tangga (PKRT) dan Pengeluaran
Konsumsi Pemerintah (PKP), tetapi juga
oleh peningkatan ekspor, terutama ekspor
luar negeri. Sementara dari sisi lapangan
usaha, disebabkan pertumbuhan pada
Industri Pengolahan dan Transportasi dan
Pergudangan.

Jakarta’s economic recovery continued
in the third quarter of 2021. Despite the
Implementation of Community Activity
Restrictions (PPKM), several activities
continued to operate, especially the
essential, critical, and export-oriented
industries. Furthermore, the global economic
recovery, along with the acceleration of
the vaccination program, has escalated
economic growth through an increase in
global demand.
Compared to the second quarter of 2021 (q-to-q),
Jakarta’s economy grew by 0.1 percent amid the
implementation of PPKM. On the expenditure
side, the growth was driven by increased exports
performance and Gross Fixed Capital Formation
(GFCF). Meanwhile, the escalation of Human
Health and Social Work Activities, Manufacture,
and Construction drove the supply growth.
Compared to the third quarter of 2020
(y-on-y), Jakarta’s economic growth went
up to 2.43 percent. On the demand side,
this growth was driven by Household
Final Consumption Expenditure (HFCE),
Government Final Consumption Expenditure
(GFCE), and exports, particularly foreign
exports. On the supply side, it was caused by
the rise in Manufacture, and Transportation
and Storage.
A. Triwulan III-2021 Ter-
hadap Triwulan III-2020
(y-to-y)
1. PDRB Pengeluaran
Pada periode ini, ekonomi Jakarta tumbuh
2,43 persen (y-on-y). Pandemi yang
masih berlangsung hingga kini membuat
pemerintah mengambil peran lebih besar
dalam mempercepat proses pemulihan
ekonomi. Kondisi ini tercermin dari naiknya
PKP sebesar 6,97 persen. Tumbuhnya
PKP didorong oleh meningkatnya belanja
barang dan jasa, terutama yang berkenaan
dengan kegiatan vaksinasi dan belanja
bantuan barang untuk menangani dampak
COVID-19.
Komponen PKRT tumbuh 4,57 persen
(y-on-y). Pelonggaran PPKM secara bertahap
mendorong pertumbuhan PKRT terutama
pada kelompok makan minum, restoran dan
hotel serta transportasi dan komunikasi.
Menurunnya jumlah kasus COVID-19
sejak pertengahan triwulan III-2021
menjadi katalis positif bagi investasi di
Jakarta. Perekonomian mulai bergerak dan
permintaan akan barang modal meningkat
seiring dengan peningkatan realisasi
penanaman modal. Pada periode ini PMTB
DKI Jakarta tumbuh 1,29 persen (y-on-y).
2. PDRB Lapangan Usaha
Dari sisi lapangan usaha pertumbuhan
didorong oleh peningkatan kinerja industri
pengolahan yang tumbuh 11,85 persen.
Capaian ini terutama karena adanya
peningkatan produk Industri Alat Angkut
dan Industri Kimia, Farmasi, dan Obat
Tradisional.
A. The 3rd quarter of
2021 to 3rd quarter of
2020 (y-on-y)
1. GDRP by Expenditure
During this period, Jakarta’s economy
grew by 2.43 percent (y-on-y). The ongoing
pandemic has forced the government to
take a more prominent role in accelerating
economic recovery. It was reflected in the
increase of Government Final Consumption
Expenditure (GFCE) by 6.79 percent. Its
growth was driven by increased spending
on goods and services, especially for
vaccination programs and goods assistance
to deal with the impact of COVID-19.
HFCE increased by 4.57 percent (y-on-y). The
relaxation of PPKM gradually encouraged
its growth especially in Food and Beverage,
Restaurant and Hotel, and Transportation and
Communication Consumption Expenditure.
The declining number of COVID-19 cases
since the middle of the third quarter of
2021 has become a positive catalyst
for investment in Jakarta. Moreover, the
economy reactivated, and demand for capital
increased along with the rise in investment
realization. Jakarta’s GFCF growth rate
reached 1.29 percent (y-on-y) in this period.
2. GRDP by Industry
The performance of manufacturing sector
grew by 11.85 percent, driving the economic
growth on the supply side. This achievement
was mainly caused by the output rise of the
Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Traditional
Medicine Industries.

 Selanjutnya, pelonggaran PPKM secara
bertahap tidak hanya telah mendorong
peningkatan kinerja Transportasi dan
Pergudangan hingga tumbuh 7,97 persen,
tetapi juga mendorong kinerja Penyediaan
Akomodasi dan Makan Minum hingga
tumbuh 7,09 persen. Namun demikian
sejumlah lapangan usaha terkontraksi,
diantaranya Konstruksi, Jasa Perusahaan,
dan Jasa Lainnya.
B. Triwulan III-2021 Ter-
hadap Triwulan II 2021
(q-to-q)
1. PDRB Pengeluaran
Ekonomi Jakarta tumbuh sebesar 0,10
persen (q-to-q). Pada triwulan ini PMTB
tumbuh 4,88 persen. Pertumbuhan ini
terutama disebabkan peningkatan kinerja
konstruksi dan impor barang modal.
Di lain sisi, upaya pemerintah untuk
menangani dampak pandemi COVID-19 dan
mempercepat pemulihan ekonomi tergambar
melalui kinerja PKP yang tumbuh 1,18 persen.
Capaian ini didorong oleh belanja barang
dan jasa serta bantuan sosial. Sementara itu,
PKRT dan Pengeluaran Konsumsi Lembaga
Non-Profit yang Melayani Rumah Tangga
(PKLNPRT) terkontraksi.
2. PDRB Lapangan Usaha
Dari sisi lapangan usaha, kegiatan ekonomi
yang menunjukkan kinerja positif yaitu Jasa
Kesehatan dan Kegiatan Sosial tumbuh 9,17
persen, Konstruksi tumbuh 5,20 persen,
diikuti Industri Pengolahan tumbuh 4,36
persen. Peningkatan Industri Pengolahan
didukung oleh Industri Alat Angkutan dan
Industri Kimia, Farmasi, dan Obat Tradisional.

Furthermore, the gradual relaxation of
Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM)
has boosted Transportation and Storage to
grow by 8.07 percent and encouraged the
performance of Accommodation and Food
Service Activities to go up to 7.09 percent.
However, several industries were contracted,
including Construction, Business activities,
and other services activities.
B. The 3rd quarter of
2021 to 2nd quarter of
2021 (q-to-q)
1. GRDP by Expenditure
Jakarta’s economy grew by 0.10 percent
(q-to-q). This quarter, Gross Fixed Capital
Formation (GFCF) increased by 4.88
percent, mainly caused by an escalation in
Construction and Imports of capital goods.
On the other hand, governments effort
recover the impact of the COVID-19
pandemic and accelerate economic recovery
reflected through GFCE, which rose by
1.18 percent. This growth was encouraged
by the uplift in goods, services, and social
assistance spending. Meanwhile, HFCE
and NPISH Final Consumption Expenditure
(NFCE) contracted.
2. GRDP by Industry
On the supply side, economic activities that recorded
a positive performance were Human Health and
Social Work Activities, which grew by 9.17 percent,
followed by Construction which rose by 5.20 percent,
and Manufactures increased by 4.36 percent.
Manufacture’s growth was driven by Transportation
and Equipment Industry and the Chemical,
Pharmaceutical, and Traditional Medicine Industry.
Sementara itu, lapangan usaha yang masih
terkontraksi tinggi adalah Administrasi
Pemerintahan, Pertahanan dan Jaminan
Sosial Wajib sebesar 11,42 persen. Hal
ini disebabkan pada triwulan II-2021 ada
pencairan THR dan gaji ke 13. Penurunan
juga dialami oleh listrik dan gas sebesar
7,07 persen.
C. Kumulatif Triwulan III-
2021 terhadap Kumulatif
Triwulan III-2020 (c-to-c)
1. PDRB Pengeluaran
Sampai dengan triwulan III ekonomi Jakarta
tumbuh 3,55 persen. Tiga komponen
pengeluaran menunjukkan pertumbuhan
positif, diantaranya adalah PKP sebesar
15,93 persen, yang diikuti PKRT sebesar
3,77 persen, dan ekspor sebesar 8,31
persen. Pertumbuhan PKRT antara lain
didorong oleh naiknya pengeluaran jasa
komunikasi, belanja rekreasi dan budaya,
serta akomodasi dan hotel. Sementara
itu, komponen PKLNPRT dan PMTB
terkontraksi.
2. PDRB Lapangan Usaha
Selama periode Januari-September 2021,
kinerja positif dicapai oleh Transportasi dan
Pergudangan sebesar 14,15 persen, Industri
Pengolahan sebesar 10,94 persen, dan
Penyediaan Akomodasi dan Makan Minum
sebesar 9,83 persen. Sebaliknya, lapangan
usaha yang terkontraksi, antara lain
Pengadaan Listrik dan Gas sebesar 11,33
persen, Pertambangan dan Penggalian
sebesar 6,13 persen dan Jasa Lainnya
sebesar 3,49 persen.
Meanwhile, Public Administration and
Defence and Compulsory Social Security
experienced a deep contraction, amounting
to 11.42 percent. It was due to the 13th
salary/holiday allowance payment in the
previous quarter (second quarter of 2021).
Furthermore, the contraction also occurred
in Electricity and Gas by 7.07 percent.
C. The Cumulative 3rd Quar-
ter of 2021 to Cumulative 3rd
Quarter of 2020 (c-to-c)
1. GRDP By Expenditure
Until the third quarter of 2021, Jakarta’s
economy grew by 3.55 percent. The three
expenditure components showed positive
growth, including Government Final
Consumption Expenditure (GFCE) which
rose by 15.63 percent, HFCE rose by 3.77
percent, and Exports rose by 2.95 percent.
The change in HFCE was driven by the
increase in spending on Communication,
Recreation and Culture, and Accommodation
and Hotels Services. On the other hand,
NFCE and GFCF components contracted.
2. GRDP By Industry
During January-September 2021, several
industries that gained positive growth
were Transportation and Storage by 14.15
percent, Manufacturing by 10.94 percent,
and Accommodation and Food Service
Activities by 9.83 percent. On the contrary,
several industries that went through a
contraction were Electricity and Gas by
11.33 percent, Mining and Quarrying by
6.13 percent, and Other Services Activities
by 3.49 percent.
