PENDAHULUAN Guru memberi salam kepada peserta didik kemudian mengecek kehadiran dan kesiapan
(15 menit) peserta didik ( PPK)
Guru mengulas kembali materi sebelumnya dengan memberikan pertanyaan pancingan
seperti: “What did we learn yesterday?”; “What is analytical exposition text?”
Guru mengajak peserta didik untuk melakukan ice breaking Guru menyampaikan tujuan
dan manfaat pembelajaran tentang topik yang akan diajarkan
Guru menyampaikan garis besar cakupan materi dan langkah pembelajaran

A. Materi Pembelajaran
Definition
An analytical exposition text evaluates a topic critically but focuses only on one side of an
argument.
Social Function
The purpose of an exposition text is to persuade your audience to look at an issue with your
perspective.
Text Structures
- Thesis: Introduces the topic and shows speaker or writer’s position; Outlines of the
arguments are presented.
- Arguments: Explain the arguments to support the writer’s position. It consists about Point
(states the main paragraph) and Elaboration (develops and supports each point of
arguments)
- Reiteration : Conclusion (restatement), restates speaker or writer’s position
Language features
- Using simple present tense
- Using causal conjunction, ex: as a result, because, consequently, due to the fact, therefore,
even though, since, accordingly, now that, hence, so, yet, after etc.
- Using connective or link arguments, i.e: first/firstly; second/secondly; moreover;
furthermore; in addition; for example; look at; etc.
- Using mental verbs (verbs which show mental action), ex: know, think, learn, understand,
perceive, feel, guess, recognize, notice, want, wish, hope, decide, expect, prefer,
remember, forget, imagine, and believe.
