BAB 2
S I S T E M I N F O R M A S I A K U N T A N S I
Tujuan Pembelajaran
Setelah mempelajari bab ini, diharapkan mahasiswa dapat:
1. Mengidentifikasi dan menjelaskan dasar-dasar sistem informasi akuntansi (proses
akuntansi/siklus akuntansi).
2. Menganalisis transaksi, membuat, dan memindahbukukan jurnal.
3. Mengidentifikasi dan membuat jurnal penyesuaian.
A. PROSES AKUNTANSI
Halaman 1 | 24
M onang Situmorang, CA
2. Tahap Pelaporan.

(income summary), sehingga saldo akun nominal menjadi nol.
[Lihat Tampilan 2 – 1:

summarize, and report accounting data. Today, most companies use computers
and electronic technology as an integral part of their accounting systems. In
the future, technological advances will continue to significantly impact the
accounting process of recording and reporting data for decision-making
purposes.
The question to be asked is this: If computers now take care of all of the routine
accounting functions, why does an accounting student need to know anything about
debits, credits, journals, posting, T-accounts, and trial balances? Good question. First,
even though computers now do most of the routine work, the essence of double-entry
accounting is unchanged from the days of quill pens and handwritten ledgers. Thus, the
understanding of the process explained in this chapter is still relevant to a computer
based accounting system. Second, with or without computers, the use of debits,
credits, and T-accounts still provides an efficient and widespread shorthand method of
analyzing transactions. At a minimum, all business people should be familiar enough with
the language of accounting to understand, for example, why a credit balance in the cash
account or a debit balance in Retained Earnings is something unusual enough to merit
investigation. Finally, an understanding of the accounting cycle—analyzing, recording,
summarizing, and preparing—gives one insight into how information flows within an
organization. Great advantages accrue to those who understand information flow.
