Pendahuluan
Salah satu metode untuk mengurangi informasi yang
terkandung dalam dokumen-dokumen (terutama
gambar) adalah melalui praktek menggunakan
simbol-simbol. Praktek ini menggantikan kata yang
ditulis dan ilustrasi grafis rinci dengan simbol khusus
untuk menyampaikan informasi yang sama dengan cara
disingkat.

Pengelasan atau simbol pemeriksaan

(Examination symbol)
Dapat memberikan banyak informasi, namun mereka harus
digunakan dengan benar untuk menjadi efektif. Jika
disalahgunakan atau disalahartikan, simbol dapat
menyebabkan kebingungan, dalam memahami beberapa
detail pengelasan atau pengujian. Untuk alasan itu, adalah
penting untuk memahami bagaimana pengelasan dan simbol
pemeriksaan yang digunakan tak rusak.

Pengertian Welding Symbol

Hal ini penting untuk memahami beberapa terminologi yang

berkaitan dengan simbol-simbol, sebelum menggambarkan
berbagai bagian dari simbol las. Perbedaan dasar adalah
perbedaan antara istilah simbol las dan simbol pengelasan.

Istilah Simbol las menunjukkan jenis las, dan bila digunakan,

merupakan bagian dari simbol pengelasan.

Simbol pengelasan didefinisikan sebagai "sebuah representasi

grafis dari pengelasan." Ini adalah metode yang mewakili
simbol las pada gambar, dan termasuk informasi tambahan
dan terdiri dari delapan elemen.

• Various categories of joints are characterised by an elementary symbol.
