 Pengertian bayi baru lahir
Bayi baru lahir atau neonatus adalah masa kehidupan neonatus pertama di luar rahim sampai dengan usia 28 hari
dimana terjadi perubahan yang sangat besar dari kehidupan di dalam rahim menjadi di luar rahim.
Bayi baru lahir normal adalah bayi yang lahir dengan umur kehamilan 37 minggu sampai 42 minggu dan berat
lahir 2500 gram sampai 4000 gram (Saifudin, 2009).

 Pengertian Evidence
Based Practice (EBP)
Evidence Based Practice adalah proses penggunaan bukti-bukti
terbaik yang jelas, tegas dan berkesinambungan guna pembuatan
keputusan klinuk dalam merawat individu pasien.
Pengertian Evidence based artinya berdasarkan bukti.
Artinya tidak lagi berdasarkan pengalaman atau kebiasaan semata.
Semua harus berdasarkan bukti dan bukti ini pun tidak sekedar
bukti, tapi bukti ilmiah terkini yang bisa dipertanggung jawabkan.

EBM didirikan oleh RCM dalam rangka untuk

membantu mengembangkan kuat profesional dan ilmiah dasar
untuk pertumbuhan tubuh  bidan  berorientasi akademis.
Evidenced Based Midwifery (EBM) ini sangat penting peranannya
pada dunia kebidanan karena dengan adanya EBM maka dapat
mencegah tindakan–tindakan yang tidak diperlukan/tidak
bermanfaat bahkan merugikan bagi pasien,terutama pada proses
persalinan yang diharapkan berjalan dengan lancar dan aman
sehingga dapat menurunkan angka kematian ibu dan angka
kematian bayi.

antara lain dengan jalan memberikan ASI sedini
mungkin (IMD) yang dimaksudkan untuk
meningkatkan kesehatan dan gizi bayi baru lahir
yang akhirnya bertujuan untuk menurunkan
Angka Kematian Bayi (AKB).
Inisiasi Menyusui Dini (IMD) adalah proses bayi
menyusu segera setelah dilahirkan, di mana bayi
dibiarkan mencari puting susu ibunya sendiri
(tidak disodorkan ke puting susu).
 Tatalaksana inisiasi menyusu dini:
● Inisiasi dini sangat membutuhkan kesabaran dari sang ibu, dan rasa percaya diri yang tinggi dan
membutuhkan dukungan yang kuat dari sang suami dan keluarga, jadi akan membantu ibu apabila saat
inisiasi menyusu dini suami atau keluarga mendampinginya.
● Setelah bayi dilahirkan, secepat mungkin keringkan bayi tanpa menghilangkan vernix yang menyamankan
kulit bayi.
● Tengkurapkan bayi di dada ibu atau perut ibu dengan skin to skin contact, selimuti keduanya dan andai
memungkinkan dan dianggap perlu beri si bayi topi.
● Biarkan bayi mencari puting ibu sendiri. Ibu dapat merangsang bayi dengan sentuhan lembut dengan tidak
memaksakan bayi ke puting ibunya.
● Dukung dan bantu ibu untuk mengenali tanda-tanda atau perilaku bayi sebelum menyusu (pre-feeding)
yang dapat berlangsung beberapa menit atau satu jam bahkan lebih.
● Bagi ibu-ibu yang melahirkan dengan tindakan seperti oprasi, berikan kesempatan skin to skin contact.
● Bayi baru dipisahkan dari ibu untuk ditimbang dan diukur setelah menyusu awal. Tunda prosedur yang
invasif seperti suntikan vit K dan menetes mata bayi.
● Dengan rawat gabung, ibu akan mudah merespon bayi. Andaikan bayi dipisahkan dari ibunya, yang terjadi
kemudian ibu tidak bisa merespon bayinya dengan cepat sehingga mempunyai potensi untuk diberikan
susu formula
Setelah pemberian Inisiasi
Menyusu Dini (IMD), selanjutnya
bayi diberikan ASI secara
eksklusif. Yang dimaksud
dengan pemberian ASI secara
eksklusif di sini adalah
pemberian ASI tanpa makanan
dan minuman tambahan lain
pada bayi berumur 0 - 6
bulan.Setelah bayi berumur 6
bulan, baru ia mulai
diperkenalkan dengan makanan
padat, sedangkan ASI dapat
terus diberikan sampai bayi
berusia 2 tahun atau lebih
Setelah pemberian Inisiasi Menyusu Dini
(IMD), selanjutnya bayi diberikan ASI secara
eksklusif. Yang dimaksud dengan
pemberian ASI secara eksklusif di sini
adalah pemberian ASI tanpa makanan dan
minuman tambahan lain pada bayi berumur
0 - 6 bulan. Setelah bayi berumur 6 bulan,
baru ia mulai diperkenalkan dengan
makanan padat, sedangkan ASI dapat terus
diberikan sampai bayi berusia 2 tahun atau
lebih
