INTRODUCTION

Urinary Track Infection (UTI) adalah kondisi yang relatif

umum terjadi pada anjing, terutama pada anjing betina.
Sebagian besar kasus terjadi karena perpindahan flora normal
dari kulit atau saluran pencernaan menuju saluran perkemihan
(Olin et al., 2016). Mikroflora ini kemudian berkolonisasi pada
saluran kemih, menyebabkan infeksi, dan mengganggu
mekanisme pertahanan tubuh. Eschericia coli adalah bakteri
yang paling umum menyebabkan kasus UTI tetapi beberapa
spesies bakteri lainnya seperti Proteus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella,
Pseudomonas, Corynebacterium, dan Mycoplasma spp. juga
dapat menyebabkan UTI.
INTRODUCTION
Anjing betina lebih beresiko
terinfeksi UTI karena struktur uretranya
yang lebih pendek jika dibandingkan
dengan anjing jantan, sehingga
kemungkinan migrasi bakteri menuju
saluran kemih akan semakin meningkat.
Anjing jantan memiliki uretra yang
lebih panjang sehingga bakteri harus
bergerak lebih jauh untuk menyerang
kandung kemih. Selain itu, kondisi
anatomi organ reproduksi betina yang
umumnya lembab dan memiliki banyak
lipatan juga akan mempermudah
pertumbuhan bakteri (Sorensen et al.,
2019).
Introduction
Meskipun UTI sering merujuk pada
infeksi pada kandung dan saluran
kemih, namun infeksi ini dapat
terjadi di mana saja di saluran
kemih mulai dari uretra hingga
ginjal (yang menyebabkan suatu
kondisi yang dikenal sebagai
pielonefritis).

Dokter hewan biasanya meresepkan
antibiotik(paling sering penisilin atau
fluoroquinolon) selama 1-2 minggu.
Jika kultur urin dan tes sensitivitas
menunjukkan bakteri resisten, maka
pengobatan akan mencakup antibiotik
yang ditemukan untuk melawan bakteri
tersebut.

Obat pereda nyeri, anti radang, dan

suplemen daya tahan tubuh untuk
membantu mengobati dan
membersihkan infeksi.
