01 KONSEP PENYAKIT
ANEMIA SEL SABIT
 DEFINISI
o Anemia sel sabit adalah sejenis anemia congenital dimana sel darah
merah berbentuk menyerupai sabit, karena adanya hemoglobin
abnormal. ( Noer sjaifullah H.M, 1999, hal 535 ).

o Anemia sel sabit adalah kondisi serius dimana sel-sel darah merah
menjadi berbentuk bulan sabit, seperti huruf C. sulit bagi sel darah
berbentuk bulan sabit untuk melewati pembuluh darah terutama
dibagian pembuluh darah yang menyempit, karena sel darah merah ini
akan tersangkut dan akan menimbulkan rasa sakit, infeksi serius, dan
kerusakan organ tubuh.
 Penyebab anemia sel sabit

Anemia sel sabit terjadi karena adanya mutasi pada gen yang mengakibatkan tubuh
membuat zat besi (hemoglobin) secara berlebihan. Hemoglobin berfungsi agar sel darah
merah dapat membawa oksigen dari paru-paru ke seluruh organ tubuh. Kasus ini
mengakibatkan sel darah merah menjadi kaku, lengket, dan cacat.

Penyakit ini dapat diturunkan dari generasi ke generasi secara autosomal resesif. Apabila
diturunkan dari salah satu orangtua, mungkin hanya memilki sifat sel sabit yang berarti
memiliki satu gen hemoglobin normal. Hal ini memungkinkan penderita memiliki beberapa
sel sabit yang tidak memiliki tanda atau gejala, namun dapat diturunkan lagi kepada anak.
Faktor yang meningkatkan risiko terkena penyakit ini adalah apabila kedua orangtua
menderita penyakit ini.
 Tanda dan gejala anemia sel sabit
Tanda dan gejala pada penyakit ini biasanya timbul pada usia dini, seperti bayi yang berumur 4-6 bulan.
Walaupun penyakit ini memiliki beberapa jenis, tetapi mereka memiliki tanda dan gejala yang sama. Berikut
beberapa gejala dan tanda yang ditimbulkan, yaitu:

ginjal penyakit kuning

Anak-anak yang menderita penyakit anemia sel sabit
seringkali memiliki tubuh yang relatif pendek, tetapi
lengan, tungkai , jari tangan dan jari kakinya panjang.
